This makes no sense to me. Amazon's thing is mail order. This is as bad an idea as when Gateway deci9ded to open their country stores...

This is not as bad as it looks like.

3 months before X-mas: Any E-commerce site it gets very busy, hiring thousands of temporal extra people to work for them seasonally.
This temporal physical store some-how will help to provide a quick & better service in special on big cities where demand is always bigger.

Of course: This SMALL store in NYC, can't be compare to the 10x+ Home-Depot or any other regular brick & mortar store against the storage (s) that Amazon have around the world.

This is absolutely just going to be small, expensive stuff and I would suggest more emphasis on showcasing Amazon hardware present and future.

Perhaps they will put a storefront to some of their warehouses at one point or another; we have stores like it in the UK (and Europe) e.g. Argos.
