There is nothing strange in its design. I used to have a similar looking Sekonic exposure meter with zoom facility some 40 years ago. Sanyo and some other Korean manufacturers used to have similar looking digital cameras with video capability for single handed operation. As a matter of fact this is the best design for fastest response action camera.
