Spotify has paid out $2 billion to labels, songwriters

article published on 11 November, 2014

Last week, pop artist Taylor Swift made headlines when she removed all her music from popular streaming service Spotify, stating that the best way for fans to listen is to buy the CD or download the album. Correction!
Bands don't make money on cd's they never have, the royalty collection agency & labels do,its a reason why 2 years ago a class action lawsuit was taken against the royalty collection agency. From memory for every thousand earned in cd sales the artist gets 100,the collection agency 380,the rest goes to cd production, adverts etc, what a pitiful amount the musician gets.

2nd: piracy doesn't kill anything its already been done time & time again in research, pirates buy more music than any other demographic then again i don't need to tell you that, you guys already know.

3rd.Musicians make their money from live performances

4th.The second paragraph in the above article tells the story, the biggest thieves is the industry itself not piracy, that"s whats called "shooting ones self in the foot"..lmao

lastly if it was sooo good why has swift removed her music...yeah someones making money its just not the artist

I agree with Spotify!

I stop leasing to radio almost 20 years ago.
CD's and later on ...Music-DVD's was my best choose. Making my own mixes by Decade, Gender & BPM (105bpm- for easy leasing & 105bpm+ for "hype" dance).

The Music & Movies Corps., RIAA, MPAA, etc. and in general CORPORATE GREED is turning people into pirates.

...and even pirates by playing their music at everywhere; are promoting the music for whoever keep paying for.

"Give Some to Get Some" rule, having change yet.

Just saying.

Live Free or Die.
The rule above all the rules is: Survive !
Capitalism: Funnel most of the $$$ to the already rich.

Wasn't looking for this,i came across it just through normal browsing on how the RIAA screw artists,it's unbelievable how musician/s can create albums & not make a dam cent, then be charged for the privilege
