Xbox One is 'just getting start' says exec

article published on 16 December, 2014

Microsoft executive responds to November's sales triumph over the PlayStation 4 in the United States and the United Kingdom. November was the first month that Microsoft managed to sell more Xbox One consoles to customers than Sony managed with its PlayStation 4 (PS4) console in the United States. According to NPD data, the Redmond giant sold about 1.2 million Xbox One units in the U.S. ... [ read the full article ]

Ummm.....if I had to venture a guess as to why the Xbox One outsold PS4 for 1 F'ING MONTH (Big whoop!), it would be simply because PS4 has hit a point of homeostasis and has already sold to the bulk of people and now Xbox might creep up a little bit.

Law of supply and demand people, it's the way it works and nothing surprising that Xbox sold more in a measly month. Let's see the figures at the end of any given YEAR of sales and I'm sure MS won't be tootin' their own frakking horn!

I agree with you completely on that...this is reminiscent of a little league team that's gone winless for a few seasons hitting a home run. It may make THEM feel a lot better for a while, but the game (and the season) is far from over. In all honesty I've steered away from ALL consoles: Sony turned off a diehard fan when instead of touting what the PS3 could do, they resorted to trash-talking Microsoft, and that's when I purchased my 360 (yeah, I'm quirky like that). I was really looking forward to the Xbox One until I found out (a) there was no DVR capability in it, (b) it wouldn't be backward compatible with 360 games and (c) you couldn't (or had to pay a fee to) play used games on it.

I'm fairly certain that some if not all of that info has changed by now, but I no longer care what they do, it doesn't matter. If there is any game that I MUST play, all I need to is wait for the PC port of it. In the meantime I'm very much occupied with the various websites that offer thousands of retro games using Java (no more worries about setting up clunky emulator settings...JOY!), as well as all the games I have on my phone. Do they offer the bleeding-edge graphics you'd get from a console? Hell, no! Are the vast majority of them free or come at a very low cost, while at the same time allowing me to relive the golden years of video gaming (you know, when content mattered instead of glitter?) Hell yes, and a lot of cell phone games' graphics are nothing to sneeze at any more, especially when you can hook your phone up to your HDTV...lol! :)
