The following comments relate to this news article:
article published on 17 December, 2014
Sony Pictures has now decided against ever releasing 'The Interview' in any form, almost guaranteeing themselves a $100 million loss on the film.
A spokesman made the quick and blunt statement tonight that "Sony Pictures has no further release plans for the film."
The studio made the decision tonight to cancel the release of the Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy, after the major movie ... [ read the full article ]

Massive, online, anonymous mocking of Kim Jong Un must commence immediately to replace, and ultimately overshadow, the film.

It is so sad that we are giving in to the threats of N. Korea. All this does is open the doors for future attacks and threats. I'm so disgusted I have nothing more to say.

Someone needs to get a screener leaked into the wild so we can make it the largest torrented movie in history. Throwing Kim Jong Un into every meme generator on the net wouldn't be a bad idea to start with either.

Shouldn't the NSA look to hire these hackers? If they could bring down a multi-billion dollar corporation, just think what they could do when unleashed against a country?

Sony executives should consider working at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster site. The New World Order term worthless eaters applies to these cowards.

Despite being a multi-billion dollar corp, there "security" if you can call it that is a joke. What confuses me more is why Sony stayed online instead of going dark for a few days. Important information could still be sent/received via sneaker net.

After reading the comments posted in this article, I'm surprised that not a single one is about the lack of judgment the studio made when deciding to film a satirical movie about killing a living dictator. I would've liked to be a fly on the wall when that idea was pitched to the Sony exec's.

That is one angle that could be said about it but really it all boils down to the fact that their mouths (or creative minds) wrote a check that their butts couldn't cash. They couldn't back up their bold or risky decision to essentially "make fun of" an emotionally unstable, radical dictator that obviously has a Napoleon complex with a proven track record of acting irrationally. They basically didn't think it through and fully commit to the idea of producing the film no matter the consequences or reactions by others. When the going got tough they turned tail and ran for the corner to hide.
I honestly, like you, would have loved to have been listening in on the pitch meeting to the execs. It's obvious that they didn't think it through or at the very least took it for granted how badly he would react to it and how far he would take it to get his way. It was extremely foolish to do this considering how weak or lax the security is on the servers. This isn't the first time they have had a security breach or had major shutdowns with them and I feel they had to at least consider the the possibility. I mean if they wanted a doomsday look into what could have happened they should have asked their writing staff. What has happened to date sounds more like what you would find in a movie script than real life. I still stand by my idea of leaking a screener to make it the most prolific and famous torrent of all time.

Why. I hope its the most downloaded movie of the decade. South Korea should get the biggest projector they can find and blast the movie across the DMZ.
If Baby Face wants to go to war over a movie, i say let him try. the US is going to Conquer AKA "Liberate" them eventually its only a matter of time. If we need a reason, i'm sure there's some nukes lying around in his sand box.

One can only hope there were screeners passed out so we can see this film in all its glory via torrent. :)

Initially it was reported that the hackers got copies of several movies as a result of the hack itself. Is there a copy of this in the wild?

If they wait and release it on July 4th or Sept 11 it might be the best grossing movie of all time.

One thing I can't understand: Wasn't the hack supposed to protest and intimidate Sony not to release the movie? So why the hackers let loose an email containing variations on the death scene?

Sony is so confised that they can't make their minds.
HA! Ya I know Mrguss. I don't have time to keep up with all of the circus sideshow crap Sony has been involved with as of late. I though that I clicked on the email notice I got from AD pretty soon after but I was late again it seems. No worries. I'm just waiting on a torrent. That one will be on an unlimited seed status from me when I get a good copy. Hopefully YIFY gets one going. Love their uploads.
I betcha shareholders had a few choice words to say to the execs @ Sony after catching wind of the chaos swirling the web about it. As crazy as this seems, I wonder if this is some kind of HUGE, complex PR stunt for launching the movie. Kinda like War of the Worlds 2.0. The hacking might be real but all of the other stuff is smoke and mirrors to get a buzz for the movie going. This will be interesting to see how this plays out. :)
