The only thing that $50 spindle will be good for is coasters on you're coffee table. If you are running short then I say go for it!

I just got my second order last Friday from http://www.dvd-media.info ( I got 100 DVD-R, 4X) and it works fine on my Sony DRX-510UL External (connected via Firewire off my notebook) and my LG GSA-4081B internal. I know Sony will write to almost any media.. but LGs are picky..

Hey dvdto,

I have to agree that the LG writers are picky. I have a LG GSA-4082B and all media that I burnt has pauses when I play them on my toshiba dvd player. I tried ritek, prodics, verbatim, and hypermedia but they all have the same problems. What brands work with ur writer?

I initially tried memorex - had no problem. The only problem was buying them from a retail store, and at retail prices. Then a buddy suggested trying www.dvd-media.info - I bought 25 pieces of the unbranded make, and had one failure. So I stuck with it.. It plays back great in my Toshiba Satellite notebook DVD, and on my Panasonic Progressive Scan DVD player.. I hope this helps. Unbranded has worked for me..

Hi berserk

I have a friend with a Toshiba DVD player and it does not like burnt discs. Most times it will play burnt +R DVDs that have been bitset to DVD-Rom

You can look up your player's compatibility here
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

I hope this helps

I think it's my toshiba sd-200c dvd player with the problem. The burnt dvd-r play perfectly on my computer but when I play them on the dvd player there are glitches. Guess I should of invested more on my dvd player, it only cost me $100.

Hi

Yes I looked up your DVD player and the conclusion was it didn't like burn DVDs. If you have a burner that allowed bitsetting like a BenQ 800 or 822, the odds are more of your burnt discs could be read. The reviews are here http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=479&Search=Search&#comments

I hope this helps

For important stuff (read work) I use Ritek. Factory Direct has 2 Ritek 4x 50 spindle for 70 bux. For miscelleneous I use no name that I got from Factory Direct 2 4x 50 spindle for 29 (now they are including a 48cd wallet)

Haven't had any problem with the cheap media, be it dvd-video or dvd-rom mode. The dvd-video play fine in my Panny RP-82S.

Newfee.. good spot! But not wanting to be outdone.. I looked at the add, and found the prices are 3% cash discounted! Which brings it up to $23.68! Could not let that one go by.. but I would love to be corrected.. after all, we're doing this to help each other save coin. Good Price on the RiTech media.

dvdto...not wanting to be outdone...lol...not sure, but the cases you're talking about are from ebay? What about the shipping costs/insurance? Is all this included in the $23.50?

Hey, I'm just having some fun...just a savvy shopper, trying to save a buck here! It's good to know I'm not the only one trying to save a few cents!

Where do you buy your media by the way and is it cheaper than $29.99/50 pack?

Picked up a spindle pack of 50 at Future shop on Saturday just past for $25. They were benq +r 4X.
I just bought my first burner a month ago and it was the benq 1620.
I picked up a 5 pack of the same disks at the same time and did a couple of backups over the weekend.
The benq + r disks seemed to work fine, and the resulting backups played in all of my home machines- toshiba, apex and a mitek portable.
Future shop usually sells them in a 5 pack with cases for 10 bucks. They also sell them on a 25 count spindle for 50 bucks, but that is the same cost per disc as the 5 packs and with the 5 packs you also got the cases. The 50 pack for $25 was right on the shelf next to the 25 pack for $50. Hmmm twice as many for half the price... which one do you pick up ?
I really did not check into diffent brands when I started and these are the only ones I have ever used. They worked the first time so I stuck with them.
I've used them for about 50 or 60 burns and have had only 1 coaster in the bunch.

50 BenQ 4x DVD+/-R for $25!

Hi nscotian - 50˘/disc is an incredible price for those BenQ DVD+Rs. Funnily enough, I just checked the Future Shop website today and saw they were on sale, and rushed to pick some up.

In case anyone else is interested, you can order them from the website, here:

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&dept=2&WLBS=fsweb18&sku_id=0665000FS10047106&catid=12501&newdeptid=2

I'm going back tomorrow, hoping they're sold out so I can get a rain check for when I have a some more spare cash :-)

Incidentally, a friend of mine just alerted me to factorydirect.ca...for anyone in Toronto, they're at College and Spadina. They have 50-pack Ridata spindle for $35 (70˘/disc):

http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=RI1850

My friend hasn't checked the Manufacturer ID yet, but when he does, I'll edit the message to let everyone know.

Hello all,
First post in this forum.

I have verified the following link:
http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=RI1850
Shipping one little spindle to central Montreal area is 14.00$, delivered next week.

Not so good.
http://www.blankmedia.ca has them for 33$. G05 coded.
And guess what? shipping is 6.42$ and so far, I have received them in 2-3 days.

They are both located in Toronto.
I just dislike the webretailer with these kind of shipping cost. They just want you to think: might as well buy 200 to reduce the costs.
But if you live close, it's probably good :)

The blanks at FactoryDirect are G04's...$34.99 for 50 spindle. If you live in the TO area, there's a place just a few blocks away from the Factory Direct store that has them for $29.99/50 pack...it's called Computer Warehouse Outlet I think...the sale was also a couple weeks ago.

Further to one of my last posts - re: DVD Cases. Again, best price I've seen, & they give you 10 pieces of DVD Media (-R) with the purchase!. The deals are only via eBay. But that's cool.

100 Cases with 10 pieces of media for $24.10CDN
