According to IDC, Apple narrowly missed out on becoming the world's top smartphone maker in the Q4 following its record quarter of 74.5 million iPhones sold. Samsung shipped 75.1 million smartphones for the quarter, good for 20.01 percent market share, beating out Apple at 19.85 percent. Samsung has become a mill, pumping out much crap. The S5 is the most decent phone they've built yet.

I would not be surprised if Xiaomi and Lenovo overtake both Samsung and apple within next couple of quarters. At the moment they represent the best value for money devices. I don't know about Lenovo but Xiaomi certainly has some kind of constraint on manufacturing capacity. Their phones can practically oust Samsung from the Indian market if they can fulfill the demand.
