I think claiming a paid Youtube video service translates into ad-free original content is naive. That's just not how capitalism works.

And let's be honest here, this is Google: The company who ruins virtually every IP they get their hands on, either through acquisition or in-house development. Tons of promising ideas have failed in this company because they don't have the slightest idea how to structure their development cycles in a professional manner. Youtube itself is a case study in fixing what isn't broke.

The other Elephant in the room is Netflix. AD itself recently reported that Netflix is in a full 36% of US households. That's not just success, that's approaching medium standardization. Netflix is the VHS of the new streaming media age and it's WAY past time all of these greedy little studios figure this out. Every little service in the world can't charge their own $15 a month fee to use their limited-by-design product. The product as a service model is limited by the sheer number of services popping up. Standardization is imminent and Netflix has a lead Google can't hope to compete with.
