OK...I just bought my first dual layered DVD. I want to use it to make an exact 1:1 copy of one of my dvd movies. I have a Lite-On SOHW-832S DVD Burner with the latest firmware. How do I burn a dual layered dvd? Is there a setting a need to change? I have read about people changing the book type of the dvd burner. Do I need to do that...and to what type...and how? Is there anything else i need to do? I am using Nero 6 burning software with the latest updates and with the dual layer dvd support.
Thank You!!!

To burn the D/L DVD all you need is DVDDecrypter and Nero. Nero should recog. the D/L media and it will burn the DVD.
I might be wrong ( have not tried it ) but I think Shrink 3.2 will burn to a DVD-9 now and w/in Shrink you can auto burn w/ Nero

No worries, Eric. Just trying to keep things tidy is all :)
@wylds,
As far as movies are concerned the advantage is being able to back up a full DVD-9 without having to reauthor or compress the film.

Erik, use shrink and nero to burn your DVD9's(dual layer). Works perfectly. Open shrink, hit edit > preferences > under DVD 5 click on drop down menu and hit DVD 9. Then go to file I/O and enable Nero to burn. I have done 5 now and all are perfectomundo!
PS-I also have the LiteOn SOHW 832S dual layer burner.
GO VOLS !

Before you burn, make sure you change the booktype to dvd-rom. Get it directly from liteon here:
http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/Zip/BookType.zip
Once you do that, just burn with Nero like a normal dvd. It will automatically recognize the disk as being DL.

If i change the book type to dvd-rom, will normal single layer dvd's still burn the same as normal and work the same as normal in regular stand-alone dvd players? And what is the normal book type for the drive?
Thanks!!!

Yes, you want to set the booktype to dvd-rom precisely so that you'r DL disks will work in your home player, or will at least have much better chance! I've yet to find out why this setting is not the default though, but no one seems to know.
