ok im new to all this burning stuff so i burned a movie to prodisc 4x dvd-r using dvd shrink 3.2 and ripper and i try to play it on my dvd player (sony dvp ns315) and it says "cannot play disc"
My bet is you aren't doing anything wrong. A lot of players are not compatible with certain DVD-R brands. Stick with DVD-R (not DVD+R), but try other brands. Ritek's are good.
I'm in the same boat... just used DVD Shrink last night one two DVD+Rs... Shrink went through the whole process, seemed to burn fine, all the files are there, but neither of my players recognizes it.
So, question: I also have a DVD-R burner. If I do a straight copy from the unplayable +R to a -R, would that work, or has the fact that it's been on a +R corrupted the file structure somehow?
I've had no problems playing +R's that I've created with DVD Decrypter... might it work if I decrypted the +R I burned and then reburn it to another +R, or since the first disc I burned is unplayable, should I not even bother?
If no one knows, I'll risk wasting a couple of DVDs to find this out myself, but since my players don't recognize DVD RW, I'm hoping someone might have a good guess as to whether either of these solutions might work.

Well, my DVD+R will not play in either a Panasonic, Samsung, or JVC player (and these are all less than a year old). Trying Decrypter now, so we shall see....
Copying a DVD+R to a DVD-R is a good idea, but my advice is find a newer DVD player that plays everything. It's seriously not worth it to spend days and days figuring out how to burn a DVD that will play in some obscelete DVD player like I've been doing all year.
I finally bought a new player and now I don't care if my discs won't play in other people's players. They need to upgrade if they want to watch my movies.
Just be sure what you burn plays ok in your computer at least, do a surface scan too.
You shouldn't need to decrypt the disc if it's already decrypted. Just copy it over to a DVD-R. You gotta try different media though. I had a player that would not play about 7 different brands I've tried on it. It really sucked!
