Solu is a new Kickstarter project that aims to revolutionize computing

article published on 16 October, 2015

A Finnish startup by the name of Solu Machines has introduced a new type of computer in San Francisco, CA. Solu, as they call it, is a mobile computer that relies solely in the power of cloud computing. Everything about the small square box, veiled in wood in a very Scandinavian fashion, is stored in the cloud. The device and the concepts behind it are very interesting. That being said, I would never buy a device that REQUIRES a subscription to operate. If the company goes out of business or stops supporting the device you have nothing more than a $400 paperweight.

I agree. I would jump in just to test this device. However, $400 + $25 per month make it more expensive than any computer I have ever owned.

$700 at the end of the first year, $1000 at the end of the second and $1300 by the end of the third, ect, ect, ect.

Google is enough cloud for me. No thank you.

Ahh nice try guys at Solu but your'e a little late with this. Microsoft have had this in the planning for a while and it's now on market. Lumia 940XL running Windows 10 and Continuum. More or less the same thing, no subs and the massive weight of MS behind it. A PC that's a phone... so always with you. Wonder when Apple will copy that one too?

Sorry, Solu, give up before you waste any more time :((
