Hi,

If I'm understanding you correctly you want to put a DVD onto a CD, correct?

If this is the case you'll need to convert the DVD rip to either VCD or SVCD taking into account whether you're DVD player will play those formats so you may want to check out our VCD forum.

There's really no way to compress a full DVD down to that size with any sort of quality even if you managed to do so.

There is no way you can put a DVD on a single 700 meg CDR disc and make it worth viewing, except for Mpeg 4, DiVx or Xvid. It won't be compatible with almost all current DVD players but mpeg 4 is catching on and there's even a home theater complinat setting for some flexible players.

I used DiVx, VCD, and SVCD before there were DVD burners. VCD's quality was too poor and required 2 discs. SVCDs required up to 4 discs fo a 2 hour movie. DiVx quality was unique and excellent, and on 2 discs nearly DVD perfect, but on a single disc it still produced an effective and pleasing picture.
