I prefer NeroVision Express(NVE) over TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will allow you to add 4 or 5 shows/movies and create a menu with which to go to each one. You can also add chapters.
You can put in custom or imported backgrounds, moving backgrounds or menu buttons, and a host of other cool stuff.
You must do all your compressing and/or re-authoring before adding your files, then after creating your menu it has a software remote control with which you can preview your work. After all is to your liking you can then burn from the same app(NVE).
It is in the Nero Ultra 6 package which has a trial download each month(must be reloaded each month, you can do this indefinitely until you decide to buy-which I highly recommend as it has tons of audio/video apps).
Remember, the more you add, the more you must compress, the less the quality. I use it for TV episodic shows than for multi movies, but it will work for either.

I use the same methods, write to Hard drive, then burn the project with DVD Shrink, but the applications you mentioned I also use offer no flexability you pretty much have to use the templates provided.....

clark, not sure what you mean, you 1st stated that backed up my first DVD and it copied like a charm plays with no problem but no menu , so I suggested NVE, an app with which to create a menu for your movie.
Then you stated thatI use the same methods, write to Hard drive, then burn the project with DVD Shrink, but the applications you mentioned I also use offer no flexability you pretty much have to use the templates provided...... Either you need a menu or you don't. If you're backing up a movie with Shrink you leave the menu provided with the movie in. If you have movie files, like from a video cam or downloaded files with movie only, or as thebutton asked, put several movies or shows on one disc and needs a menu to go from one to the other, then NVE will create a pretty decent menu with which to navigate your video, and do it with some pretty cool features. As far as layout goes, it has quite a few choices with which to make. If you really want flexibility, use DVDLab at 99.00 or DVDLab Pro at 199.00, neither are beginner apps, but offer a wide range of flexibility.
Sooo, I don't really understand what you mean at all.

clark, I'm totally confused now, you said "I would love to know how to do this one I backed up my first DVD and it copied like a charm plays with no problem but no menu. I offered NVE and you said no flexibility so I offered DVDLab and DVDLab Pro. Now you show me the Vegas products, which at 700.00 to 800.00 are way out of my(and most others I would bet) price range, but if you have all this, then why the question for help to begin with?
BTW, I don't dislike you, I guess I just don't understand you, lol.

clark10,
A person really needs to work up to Vegas, etc, and starting out with NVE will give you a taste of it, without the intimidation.
Vegas and the others are great programs but not really for the beginner.
We try to fit the program or technique to the need. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using more expensive programs but making menus for backups is not what they are really for, although you could.
Bigorange and ronrice were exactly right in recommending the programs they suggested.
If you can design covers and wallpapers, then you must have a graphics program. Why don't you use it to design a nice menu background and then export it into the NVE pictures folder. You could also modify the button frames and then position them where you like. Probably do the same thing with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Thanx frank, how goes ti?
I really like the import feature. For a DVD backup, what I like to do is go to the movie site where you can find all sorts of interesting stuff(posters, photos, ads, etc.), use one of my programs like photoshop or picture studio-paint shop pro 8.
Create really cool backgrounds and buttons etc, then use that with NVE's title menu features and you can come up with a really neat menu for a movie that you created, a lot of fun really.
Actually when you do it this way it's not all THAT limited, not to mention it will let you use moving backgrounds also.
PS- when ya gonna get your gif back?

I'm trying to find one that will work. I've tried a couple but every time a try to install the address, the end of it disappears. It is there until I save it. When I go back, the end is missing. I'll figure it out eventually. Probably to much crap in my signature.

That's exactly what it is, Your sig will only allow so much space. do your gif 1st, then add system specs or whatever. I got rid of spaces between words and some commas to get mine to fit.
