slow boot up & slow games PLEASE HELP!

I just bought a flip top & SMD CD I have a perfectly burnt game. When i try to boot it up sometimes it boots up sometimes it wont. When it does it boots up slow. When I play the game graphics are fine it just loads slow? What else can I do?

you could give us more information. what brand media are you using, what version ps2, what game, etc?
