Qualcomm has announced its latest chip, the Snapdragon X16, which boasts Category 16 LTE download speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. Cellular infrastructure is incapable of this currently.

LTE was initially supposed to be gigabit speeds but the consortium no doubt redefined their approach due to costs and are babystepping their way to gigabit. The next cellular technology bump is just that, gigabit speeds. More commonly known by LAMOS as "5G" which is totally unofficial and a LONG WAYS AWAY. Years. I'm thinking 7, maybe 5.


In a nutshell, this proc predates the Hell out of the available technology medium it must use.
