Hey,
I'm not very experimented in DVD medias and I would like to know a good media type I could use to make backup of xbox games. Presently I use 8 packs of Memorex DVD-R.

I'd recommend using Ridata and staying away from Memorex. In my opinion, Memorex is landfill material. I have also heard that it's best to make a 1:1 copy of an XBox game on a DL disc and that it can be played without a mod chip.

thanks for your help guyz but the problem is that I don't know where to buy these disc and I live in Canada. All the sites recommended are for USA and the shipping grow strangly quick when you're not in the states. I don't know if someone here knows a good site or maybe I should start a new topic. By the way I am not sure what is best between - and +. I've heard the 2 work but I don't know what will last longer and survive my little brother.

Dude...
www.canadacomputers.com - many many locations.. great to deal with.. will ship.. many cheap CAD prices
www.sunnycomputers.com - similar
www.fanspc.ca - not a great website.. good prices
www.bigfootcomputers.com - neat for mods... :)
Good luck... DVD -R I believe is for xbox.. not sure about +R

I have burned some things. However, sometimes when I turn my console on it acts like it's trying to come on then shuts off, then tries to come on then shuts off like it's trying to take a doo doo. Then flashes Red and Green. It's like it's not getting enough power or something. Anyone have a solution to this?

Is there a place on this where it would be appropriate to post a complete guide on how to backup xbox games ? I think this subject has quite a demand and I think I could make a nice guide about it.

For people too lazy to use the 'search' function:
You back up Xbox games by using a chipped Xbox running Evolution-X (there are alternatives to this though).
You insert your original game and (if the game is <4.35GB) you use an FTP client on your PC to connect to your Xbox (which is of course networked to the PC somehow) and you copy all the files off the disc to a folder on your PC.
Easiest thing to do then is use Nero to create a UDF data DVD containing the files you just copied.
Burn the disc. Job done.
There are about 2 dozen variations on this.
It should be noted that it's currently virtually impossible (infact, it's not actually desirable) to produce a true 1:1 copy in the strict sense.
If you want more info, go read an Xbox forum :)
