microsoft xp sp2 might take away functionality?

I was trying to determine whether I will update my xp sp1 machines to sp2. Recently this Spring I upgraded wmp 8.0 to wmp 9.0 and it was a disaster. After doing so, nothing worked right. Lots of files would no longer play, and it caused problems with Nero 6.0. I finally had to scratch my OS and reload because of all the errors. It looks like microsoft is sneaking media upgrades into the sp2 package along with the much needed security updates. Does anyone know anything about this? I have tried to find an answer on the net, but there doesn't seem to be any clear answers on what "little extras" they are sneaking in. Anyone using sp2 now??? Would really like some feedback. Thanks alot ,
