You normally should have no problems copying a copy( except probably a DVDXCopy one). There is no encryption and it should be a straight forward transcription. I believe a 'cyclic redundancy check error' is usually related to poor media. What brand DVD did you use? Did you try with more than one DVD blank?

Ritek or Verbatim seem to be the best. Memorex is known for being very uneven quality. Try a good DVD+/-RW, so you don't waste so many DVD's.

ocoyae, those Verbatim's should be excellent. I have used them also + had good results with them. The new Sony should be a good burner. I would expect that you are all set. If you continue to have the same problem, at least try to back up a different DVD to make sure the first one was not a defective one. Another thing to try would be to slow down the burn to 4X (which is what the Verbatims are rated as, I think).

Hi,

In your case the repeated CRC errors with several doifferent apps are indicating a less that perfect burn on the copy you're trying to copy.

Bearing that in mind the best recommendation I can offer would be to try Decrypter again and enable the "Ignore Read Errors" option.

Tools > Settings > I/O > Ignore Read Errors

I'm going posit that you're trying to do an "on the fly" copy and it's failing at the same point that keeps choking the other apps when trying to rip.

ok so you want me to put the ignor error on when i decrypt the files. Like just now. for instants. i just waste another blank. it read up to 83% and fail cause it could not read a file. When i put the ignor error would it allow the movie still play? And will i get the whole movie back up on the disc

If you ignore the read errors there's a good chance that the entire movie will rip but the movie may have some slight skips where the data was corrupt.

If the source disc has unrecoverable data errors on it there isn't much you can do short of using data recovery software to retrieve as much data as possible but even then nothing is guaranteed and you have to consider whether the disc you're trying to copy is worth the investment in recovery software.

Until you get this sorted out I'd recommend using RWs to avoid a huge pile of coasters :)

Hi,

RW stands for ReWritable which means the disc can be erased and written to over and over.

But it doesn't do this with factory DVDs, correct?

It sounds to me like there's something wrong with your burn process or media. Could you do me a favor and post the manufacturer ID of the media you're using? You can use this tool:

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Could you also post a Nero log when you get a CRC error?

I take it you're using the new Sony DRU-700A dual format drive, am I correct? Have you updated the firmware for your drive?
