Newbie here... I've been using Vegas for video editing... but everytime I render using DivX, the quality is quite erm... horrible. It's pixelized and jerky. Even though I thought I put a high enough setting in the customize tab. What I come out with is nothing compared to the quality of the divX videos on the net... like the ones with the divX watermark on the lower right side of the screen.

What settings do I have to have to get that quality? Or is there a special rendering program I should use separately?

I've seen amateur music videos with the divX logo on the lower side of the screen... when I render with Vegas, I don't get that logo on my work...

What am I doing wrong? Please help? :)

Usually Blocks and Pixelations are caused from either useing too low of a bitrate for the Resolution of File you are rendering or the Source Video is of Low Quality....

What is the Video source you are useing???

I believe That DivX Logo only gets Placed on Video when useing the Demo version of the DivX codec, the Retil version doesn"t leave a Logo...

Most of the DivX files on the Net are from DVD Rips so of cource the Quality is going to be very good but if you are Trying to compress Home Movies or VHS captures to DiVX then you aren"t going to get the Best Quality....If your Source video is of low Quality then the DivX file is going to be even lower Quality , Like they say "Crap In means Crap Out"...

oh, i see. thanks! :)

i've been capturing from my minidv cam... canon optura 20. what should i expect then? i'm told minidv quality should be pretty good...but the stuff that comes out of what i render is quite horrible. Is bitrate the only thing i should change? there's quite a lot of settings in the divX codec...

thanks again! :)

Well the bitrate is the Biggest determining factor for Quality becides the Quality of the source file so the main setting you should change is the bitrate...
MiniDV is a fairly good Quality format as long as the footage was shot correctly with the Right lighting ect...

Cheers
