The company I work at this summer archives all of their photos on DVD and CD. We burn 2 copies of each, and they sit upright in those black binders for holding CD/DVDs. Since the photos need to be kept indefinitely, I need to find which DVD is the most reliable to burn to.

So far, people seem to prefer Ritek's and such, but it seems as though it is due to the quality of videos stored on those DVDs. We aren't storing videos, so it does not matter.

We currently use TDK media. You guys talk so much about Ritek, but I have never really heard much about that brand. How does TDK hold up? Or, is there another brand that would be considered more reliable for long-term storage?

Hi,

I would wholeheartedly endorse Taiyo Yuden media for your purposes. TY is about as good as it gets :)

Here's a link that may be of interest:

I've figured going with TY and Ritek would be the best bet (We are using 2 diff brands in case one ends up sucking in 10 years time).

However, where do I find TY media? Everything says Taiyo Yuden Bulk unbranded media. Is this safe? I've heard that manufacturers sell (like Ritek) top of the line media to other manufacturers and second rate stuff as bulk media.

Just unsure about this.
