Ok, first of all i am already really mad at my self because i bought a Sony dru530a(Single Layer) 1 month before the duel layers came out. (I guess it runs in the family because my father bought a beta player for 5K 3 months before it was replaced with VHS). I was going to buy clone dvd for dvd re-authoring, but i guess id rather buy a duel burner and backup my movies with no quality lost.(I would only be spending 100 dollars more for the burner). I think i will buy the LG 12X(GSA-4120B) super Multi DVDRewriter(12x dvd+R/9xDVD-R). First thing i just want to ask is if its a good writer and can it actually write perfect duel burns where it can be played back on any dvd player. Also i want to ask is if It can burn as a duel layer on RiDATA 4x DVD+R. I hope some one can help me because i cant buy a 3rd writer on another error of poor judgement also because I'm back in school staring September wich means no summer job which means no cash. My old man wont give me money because he is still trying to pay off his beta cassette player bill :P.

P.S
I hope some one can reply soon because i have 70 dollars worth of DVD-R disks. I really require some info confirming the dvd writers preference because i need to return the disks in order to buy dvd+ disks for duel burning. I got until August 7th 6:18pm to make an exchange. Sorry for the rush.

Whatever dual layer burner you choose, you need dual layer media to burn dual layer. And to my knowledge dual layer only burns a 2.4x

You know dual layer is so new, and the only problem is the cost of media. At $15 a piece, coasters get really expensive. How much is the LG? You can buy OEM drives for around $100, and the Sony DL burner is on sale right now. And dual layer burners are also dual format burners so you can use the single layer blanks.
