You need to use better quality media. Use any blank media that states it uses "Advanced AZO Dye Process"

Also lower your target size to 4300mb. At the outside edges of the discs is where most defects, like dye runing, errors, scratches, etc occur also where most are damaged by kids. Better media is also a likly culpret but we don't know what you are using.

Hey fellaz, I'm having that same problem, but the difference w/me iz it only happens with certain movies not all movies. Also, I have three DVD players in my house all sony, and sometimes i'll burn a movie w/ shrink and it'll play perfect in one payer but stutter in the last 15 min in another. Im useing Memorex 4x 4.7g right now. My equipment, HP 300c Burner, Athalon xp2800+ w/512 mb memory.

heya, as with the rest, I'm having the same prob. Using shrink with decrypter and nero ver 5. Using verbatim +R 4x(with the AZO rcording dye). One movie (Hellboy) plays fine on one player, but not on another, and another movie (Cold Mountain)plays fine, cept for the last 15 minutes it'll freeze up. Ugh! Is it the version of nero maybe? I don't use the computer while it's recording, I make sure the screen saver is off, the set size is 4360 so the file doesn't get to big, I'm running out of ideas. Mayber better quality settings? I'm also about to try using verbatim -R 4x disks.

My 4x media will burn at 8x ... So I make sure I manually set the burn speed to 4x or 2.4x

Even when I set the burn speed at 4, the max the decrypter burns at is 1x. I just updated my firmware on my digital research drive, wondering if I should go with Nero version 6.0 or stick with the 5.5. One thing I noticed, when first watching a movie and it glitches, I rewind it and sometimes it's not there anymore. Kinda weird.

That's odd, the only time I've got a burn that slow was burning a file from an external HD. Are you using an external HD? Have you check ide settings, make sure they are set to DMA. And have you ever installed an aspi layer?

Nope, it's an internal drive, havn't checked my ide settings, and as far as I can tell Nero installed an aspi layer (I just got that from another forum at AD, although I'm not sure what they're talking about!) I just figured slower is better, less chance of bad burn.

ok, I was wrong and my firmware wasn't up to date, as soon as I did, my ripping and my burning times were cut down in half. I also upgraded to Nero 6 (I heard it was better than version 5.5 for player compatability). So we'll have to see if both of those helps eliminate the stutters. Anyone have a preference between Nero and decrypter, and if so, why?

I like using both. Have heard Nero has a better burning engine :)

I haven't had a chance to play around much with Nero yet, but it seems like decrypter is easier to use as far as reburning an ISO file from my hard drive if my previous burn gets scratched. As far as jitters, I have to check to see if they still happen since I just updated my firmware. I have faith though, seeing how my rip times have dropped from 1 hour to 18 minutes, and my burn times have dropped from 1 hour and some odd minutes to 15 or 30 minutes at 4x. Although with both at 4x, seems like decrypter burns faster than Nero, but it might have been a one time fluke.
