If I'm understanding you correctly, you're trying to copy your original Green Mile and the first burn failed at 60%, the second failed at 25% and the third wouldn't even burn, correct?

We'll need a bit more info before we go any further.

Make/model drive and firwame version.

Brand/type media being used.

That should get us off to a good start :)

you are using DVD Decrypter as your burning software. You might want to try a better, more reliable burning program like Nero or recordnow. Decrypter is not known for being a good burning program.

Hi,

Would you be so kind as to use Nero Info Tool to get the exact make/model and firmware version? It's a cool little utility that will give us the info we need.

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm

When you open Info Tool there will be a drop down menu at the top that will list the make/model of all your drives and the "Drive" tab will give you the firmware version.

As for the memorex media, are you using the same discs from a large spindle or have you been picking them up in smaller packs as you go?

Memorex buys from different manufacturers and have been know to use good media like RICOHJPNR01 and then put out really bad stuff from CMC MAG so you never really know what you're getting from them. If you're buying the smaller packs you may have picked up some of the bad ones.

We can clear up the media issue if you want to run the discs through DVD Identifier. It's another cool little tool that gives you the skinny on the media you're using.

Although I've never had a problem burning with Decrypter I respect yuedana's opinion so you may look into some of the great burning applications such as Nero 6 or RecordNow. The basic version of Nero 6 can be had on ebay pretty cheap. Both apps are proven stable and perform very well.

Let us know how you get on :)

D:\Atapi DVD Dual 8x4x12

Firmware - B3BC
=========================

All the DVDs I have been using to back up have been from the same spindle, I have read lots on media and I was planning on getting the ritek or verbatim but I bought these before I had read the forums and they seemed to work for the specific player I am using so thats why I dont understand why it wont work for this backup.

Thanks again

P.S. Sorry took me so long, went away for the weekend!

Did you ever run one of your discs through DVD Identifier? Low quality media tends to be quite inconsistent which may explain your mixed results.

With no specific make/model for your drive we can't find a firmware upgrade with any sort of accuracy which could be a bad thing since flashing the wrong firmware will kill your drive.

Is DMA enabled for your drive?

Anytime buddy :)

DVD Identifier should list the make/model drive in the drop down at the top where you select your drive or you can use Nero Info Tool:
