I don't see the aspect ratio as being a technical problem at all, but the article does raise an important point. Will app developers make the necessary changes to their code for the sake of a single device? My thought is that many won't and you'll be stuck with letterboxing in a lot of apps. Definitely not in time for launch. Over time, depending on adoption, eventually many 3rd party apps will fully support the X. What would be really funny is if one of the core apps wasn't ready at launch. Apple would take heat for that. Oh, and I don't see too many people actually liking the notch.
