@ Fred interesting post. I think England has developed at bit since the 60s although i'd only know from videos as i was born in 80's but were still nice, the football is still awesome and rugby has developed a hell of a lot to having awesome stadiums with wkd games in the guiness premiership so i advise you to get yourself to one of them. You should go to some premiership games if you can they are out of this world now. If you can go and watch Thierry Henry you will see one of the most talented players in the world. I would say he is on par with Ronaldinho although im sure some will disagree.
Ukraine are definitely gonna be worth watching in the World Cup. They have Shevshenko but i guarantee they will progress past the group stages and be the surprise package of the World Cup, and we will hear lots of names and players moving to the top leagues.

i am, great goal frm joe cole, he is real class. i dnt like bent to much, he likes to play of his soulder and if defenders play on the 80 yard line a ball like that is quite hard to thread in, even with the passing quality england have, i think it was a good performance frm eng;and, but i feel sorry for the left back...i had a collision like that with one of my defnders, and he got the worst of it...overall great performance, we had great majority of performance and we conceded a specatular goal... i rather liek eng;and with its diamiond formation tough, it gives them depth in the form on rooney and owen, also they can spread the ball from wing to wing, leaving gaps in the middle for owens spectacular runs

Good performance from England, glad to see Crouchie scoring (at long f**kin last). More importantly , for me anyway, Norn Iron won. And i will still gloat over the win we had against England!!!
Surprised there are no Utd ones in here gloating over that amazing cup they won and how they won it......... I think Wigan will take them when they play in the premiership, my personal opinion is that Paul Jewell should get the manager of the season award.

Permiggs - your guess is as good as mine. Why the hell Rafa sticks with that donkey Morientes is beyond me. It has been the same all season, dominate the play and not hit a barn door. I would like to see Cisse or Fowler given the nod ahead of Mori, just to see if a partner ship could be struck up with Crouch (A very improved player but still a bit a wooden). Any chance you might get a new pitch with all the money you have???? I have seen better beaches to play football on

That it didn't, but i would fancy them to beat them when they meet again. I can only hope that the 'pool do Benfica over when they come to Anfield. As much as we can dominate the play, we just cannot seem to put the bloody ball in the back of the bloody net. My mates son is going to Anfield for the Benfica match (the lucky sod), i will have to settle for Sky coverage (i hope Andy Gray isn't commentating, really gets under my skin especially as he is an ex blue man).

Can't complain too much much about Ally, ex rangers man LOL. At least he doesn't sit and talk crap for 90 mins like Andy, how far up Fergusons hole is he anyway??? Alan Hansen needs a boot up the ass, so full of his own self importance.

I heard Rom was forking out for a new pitch... About time he dropped a few bob for a new bit of grass... Didn't work with Barca, but to be honest nothing would stop Barca on that day, they were unstopable! Ronaldinho was out of this world!! Eto'o was deadly, Messi was the devil, and Deco... Jesus, what a player!! Talk about world class! Where was Lampy in the middle of those 'giants'?
I hope your Liverpool beats them, altough i understand your concern about those strikers... Crouch is the man of the moment(lol), Fowler had it really and Morientes... Well i never really rated him... As for Cisse, you know what he's capable of... Not a lot... A bit like Drogba...
I don't mind Andy Gray or Ally McCoist but i cannot stand Alan Hansen!

anyone see that bloody display by the pool????? the linesman needs to get a pair of glasses. Great respect to the Addicks keeper, he played a blinder. I am beginning to feel that even if they had a shot on an open net that we couldn't score.

That goal was clean... Fowler was on side... Oh well... It's only 2 points... Cisse was brilliant on the right tough, he should keep him there more often.

Did you guys see the WBA-Chelsea game? I'm getting sick of Mourinho and his attitude. What a bunch of...(insert your favourite adjective here) Like I said before, I used to like watching them before the russian takover but now the sooner someone puts them into their place the better. They deserve a good spanking in Barcelona! Then maybe they'll shut up. Although I don't think so, it's not in their character.

With or without Red Rom, Mourinho would make a decent side out of Chelsea... Mourinho's cocky attitude is his trade mark...
Just read this...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/4392444.stm I love this one:
Quote: I'm not a defender of old or new football managers. I believe in good ones and bad ones, those that achieve success and those that don't. Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one.
Sadly i only watched about 20 minutes of the first half but for what i saw West Brom done nothing to deserve a point...
Everyone atacks Chelsea from every angle... They just can't live with it... LOL
Leicester are on their way, aren't they?

Ronaldinho doesn't know british football - Not a lot of top players do untill they try it!
In Spain, Italy, Portugal, France and even Germany(to a certain degree) football is played differently, it's slower, more tecnical, uglier... In Britain, we play fast football for 90 minutes... It's more physical as well... In Britain we still see most weekends bloody heads and noses... Broken legs happen a lot more often in here than everywhere else - fact!
Every time a british team plays abroad, we always end up dubbing the other team as divers... Well, we are right most of the times, but the thing is that the referees actually protect the players by blowing the wistle at every contact... Makes them play for the ball and be more tecnical... Of course players will take advantage!
British footy has come a long way in the last 10-12 years tough... Before we almost didn't have foreign players here... Or Managers! Now, look as Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea ... We even have a foreign national manager!! Hence us being more tecnical, don't just power our way forward like before... Not to mention that we have the most expensive league in Europe!

Yeah you're right Lethal! Very right actually! IMO aswell...
The premiership players are well overpriced if you look at the asking price/quality ratio... The thing is, we have a lot of very rich football clubs compared to other leagues... I think we have something like 8 clubs in the top 20 richest clubs in the world! These clubs CAN afford to pay good wages...
Look what happened to Mourinho's awesome FC Porto! How the hell could they hold players like Carvalho, Ferreira, Deco, Maniche and others... Out of that squad, only 2 still play there (McCarthy and Baia), and that was only 2 years ago!! And altough we can say we have a much better league than the portuguese do(no question there!) the fact is that in the last 9 or 10 games against them (including internationals) we lost!! (Good luck Pool'ers)
In Spain we have 'little' clubs like Villareal that have better attacking options than Liverpool! Again they are not superstars like Newcastle's Owen, or Man Utd's Rooney or more scandalous Liverpool's Morientes and Chelsea's Drogba... Bring back Hasselbank, i say!
I think we make superstars out of a lot of our players when in reality they aren't... Gerrard, Lampard and Henry are superstars for sure, no doubt about that... They play at the very same highest level year upon year... But apart from a few more names there's not a lot more than that... In Spain you have more superstars in Barca and Real alone than in the whole britain game... lol
