Hello. I'm new to this forum, but I've used this site several times, and I've found it helpful, so I hope some one here can help me. I've run into a problem with my BT downloads I can't seem to solve on my own. I used Azureus for a long time. Then I also had Shareaza on my machine, which I used for an edonkey client. I used it once for BitTorrent in hopes that it might be slightly faster (I'm one of those poor souls still on dialup). After that download, I started another in Azureus, but the day after I started it, the program's update window popped up. I updated it, and ever since then, I can't get a single BitTorrent download to work. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the various clients, disabling my firewall, uninstalling my firewal, and then repeated the process for each client by iteself.

Nothing has helped. I downloaded ABC, and changed to the Tiny Personal Firewall, and still nothing happens. ABC at least gives me an error message; it says, "problem connecting to tracker". I'd assume that it was just that file, but it does on a variety of files from different sources. I've already tried disabling the firewall, and still nothing.

What should I do?

I used Azureus for a long time, downloading music and tv shows and the like.
You better edit that before a Moderator reads it! Talk of piracy is not allowed! >8D

Anyway, here are some questions:

1. With Azureus, are you sure your settings are correct for dialup? It does a check when you install it, and did that check say anything.

2. Again, with Azureus, what colour is the smiley face for your problematic torrents?

Copying tv shows is perfectly legal. Otherwise, anyone who ever taped a movie off HBO would be in jail. Besides that, the Supreme Court recently made a ruling saying that it was legal so long as the copies weren't sold.

As for the music, they are independent artists I picked up off their websites or from links from magazine interviews.

Besides, isn't that the supposed legit reason for these these clients?

Azureus was setup according to dial-up, and the smily faces were green before the update, but they turned yellow and then red after that point (mostly red).

They're illegal on this forum. Fullstop. So don't try and willy nilly talk your way out of it.

If the update causes problems for you, then why don't you switch back? Simple!

P.S. It's probably an added feature on Azureus that is causing you these problems.

Toiletman, you don't have a moderator designator by your name. Therefore, you have no right to tell what is or is not permitted, especially when I have already deleted the words from the original post. The secondary post was made because it seemed senseless to allow the point to slide since your post could not be modified by me, and thus the issue was still there.

I'm not trying to be a smartaleck, and I do appreciate your help, but these are the facts as they stand. As far as the moderators are concerned, I'm clear by most policies because I did as a member asked and deleted the material they found offensive. If you want to debate this point further, we can, but it isn't relevant to this thread, and so should be done elseware.

Okay, let's make up to each other and forget about this issue... =P

All I'm really here to do is help (and occasionally insult) members.

So, have you tried reverting back to the old version of Azureus yet?
