It is fair to say that whatever the President of the USA decides affects the rest of the World.

Carbon Dioxide Emmissions !

Interest Rates !

Who we attack !

Who we save !

Who gets subsidies and whose industries are destroyed because of them.

Anyway the US citizens can't seem to choose their own President - with more people voting for Gore than Bush in the last one.

Yeah I just had the same trouble when I went back to it.
It lists all the U.S. pesidents that were known freemasons.
George bush senior was one and so was Bill Clinton and Al gore.
They were all 33rd degree masons which is pretty high up.

Very high up considering there are only 32 degrees in Free Masonary - unless they are in some buffalo or Moose Head or whatever else they do in the US - I guess they aren't in the United Grand Lodge

Bet they're not masons anyway

Bush is a fraternity brother at Yale. Usually fraternity brothers aren't also Freemasons, or in my fraternity anyway.

Reading on the net it appears that in the US there is an honourary degree being the 33rd ! - Means he is not a mason - bit like getting an honourary degree - you didn't take any exams for it!

You are right there are 33 degrees the last one being honourary - bestowed on Politicians etc apparently.

If you want to learn the degree go to: http://www.gaiaguys.net/Masonic-33rd-degree.htm though I am not sure if Taylors or Emmulation is used.

Good luck on your 3rd - I hope the donkey is a pretty one!

Homer Simpson get's my vote. He seems to have more sense than any of the candidates on view.

Personally i dont envy the US nation having ether Kerry or Bush. In my opinion they deserve and need far better leadership at present.

The presidential elections have been nothing but a choice between schmuck A and schmuck B for a long time.

The only guy I actually got really excited about was John McCain. The sad fact was that he had a spine and too much integrity to buttkiss and schmooze enough to make it. He is one of the pitifully few politicians that I not only respect but also admire.

Anymore we vote for the lesser of two evils.

The US president is not elected by popular vote he is elected by what is called an electoral college.

Yet we are supporting an election by popular vote in Iraq -- go figure.

Thanks for getting off the Mason kick - it's hard to read about pple writing something they know nothing at all about -

Yes miss Mary, there is a 33-degree Master Mason and NO ONE can get there who isn't a Master Mason.

BTW, A 33degree Mason is one who almost lives Masonry.

Actually there is a 34-degree Mason a certified degree (fun degree), put on in Pitman NJ, USA.

As far as the "little Bush" goes, a Mason who lies and deceives an entire country would be up for expulsion.

I'm pretty sure He wouldn't have gotten to begin with. We're pretty choosy about who we let in.

Michigan!! Haymarket!! This is the united States of America. The citizens of the sovereign states decide who will be President. Read the constitution before you start talking about the popular vote.

Neither of the major candidates are total winners. Just ask yourself who is going to do a better job of protecting us. The one who is willing to kick terrorist butt in their country of origin or the one who want to prosecute them in the USA after they have committed a crime here?

As for the Kyoto agreement, look at who else did not sign onto it. Like Russia for one?

And as for John McCain, He and Feingold Co-wrote a piece of legislation that infringes on 1st Ammendment rights. How the hell it ever made it into law & was upheld by th Supreme Court is beyond me. Perhaps there are too many "enlightened" Justices who are too willing to look outside the USA for reasons to justify their vote. Perhaps John McCain could have won the election. The downside would have been Al Gore as Presidnet. Maybe that's why they did not IMPEACH Clinton. It was the end result.

TC

I wouldn't want to F*ck any of the Kerry's. I've got some standards

I do hope we will keep this thread in the light banter it started as.
Quote:
This is the united States of America. The citizens of the sovereign states decide who will be President.
"Do as I say not as I do"

Nicaragua; North Vietnam; El Salvador; Honduras; Korea; Iraq - 1979 and the election of Sadam Hussein; Iran - Pre 1979 ie. The Shah

To name but a few countries that were entitled to vote for their own President - but America knew best !

How can you say Bush is doing a good job ?

An Act of War without any sanction from the UN who said give the Nuclear inspectors more time. 1000 US troops dead; 15,000 civilians dead - countless maimed - a regional war that is out of control and getting worse. According to Senate select committees CIA MI6 (UK) Sadam Hussein had nothing to do with terrorism outside his country. He opressed Muslims ruling them with the iron hand of a dictator, and so never linked to Al Qaeda. No weapons of Mass Destruction - just OIL - actually 25% of the Worlds reserves.

All that has happened in the last 3 years is that now more muslims hate the US, more fanatics are aiming their hate at the US. Remember - a terrorist only has to be lucky once and the Security Forces have to be lucky every time.

Don't forget the US allowed contributions to the IRA to blow up citizens of its closest ally the UK, because of a belief the Irish were oppressed by the British - the reality is most US citizens could not point out Ireland on a map, let alone understand that it was all about religion and a war dating back centuries.

Kyoto - don't sign it because Russia didn't ! Sounds like playground politics. The US accounts for 25% of the worlds CO2 emmissions it is important that they sign such an agreement and try to reduce the oil consumption of their country - just as Europe has cleaned up its act (a bit) in the last few years.

What are you on ? - impeach a President because an employee played with his cigar outside of marriage. The rest of the World laughed !

What about Bush - wants to ban abortion - What ? - I am sure their are good arguments but surely this is stepping back 100 years to illegal butchers chopping up girls.

What is Guantanamo ? - a prison that chooses not to allow any right to defend yourself against the charges made - what charges ? Even the US Supreme court doesn't understand it.

He even boasted, Hollywood-Mafia style, in his 2003 State of the Union speech, that his government has secretly murdered people suspected of being U.S. enemies: "More than 3,000 suspected terrorists have been arrested in many countries, and many others have met a different fate. Let's put it this way: they are no longer a problem to the United States and our friends and allies."

Enough examples - I am not saying Kerry is any better - but Bush has brain washed the American People - people who don't know what happens outside their borders, with only 6% having passports.

The news shown on US TV almost ignores what is happening in the rest of the world. I understand propoganda but in peace time ?

God help us which ever President is chosen.
