emule downloads slow to nonexistent with .44

i was running fine until i updated to 44a then b. now uploads shoot up to full speed immediately but downloads do little to nothing. i tried to post this at the emule forum but it just gives me error messages everytime i try to post... any help greatly appreciated. tia
