I tried Shrink DVD for the first time to backup a DVD that would require significant compression. I liked the fact that I could exclude the audio tracks I wouldn't use (i.e., French, Spanish, etc.) and improve the need for compression on the main title. The setup and decoding seemed to go fine, and I left the actual burning unattended overnight. When I checked the next morning I saw the message that the burn had failed (fairly quickly into the project). I was hoping someone with more experience with Shrink DVD could help me understand the error message and what to do to fix it. The entire error message was quite lengthy, but I think I can identify the point it went bad...

OK, so I read in another thread that some people were having problems when Shrink DVD was burning the DVD too close to full... something about poor material quality close to the edge. So I re-encoded from the files Shrink DVD left on my HD and reduced just slightly more (compressed further) the size of a couple of items I didn't care too much about (menus, bonus sets, etc.) and this time it burned fine. It would still be nice to know what the error log in my original post indicated the problem was, but in the mean time I was able to successfully back up my new Star Wars IV... now on to the next two disks.

Hi RJRon. :)

It could be the burning process failed because of an excessive write speed for your media/burner combination. ;)
