hi there, this is probably the wrong forum for my topic, but i was hoping that 'you kind of people' would know pretty much about my problem. you see, a few days ago someone on afterdawn responded on my thread by advicing me to download bittorrent to download movies and games and stuff from. so i downloaded bittorrent from: http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/download.pl(the one for the netherlands/europe, its where i live). and then the guy gave me this site to download stuff from: http://www.suprnova.org/
i tried to download the godfather but all it was i downloaded was some sort of little file, so i dont have the slightest clue of how to download movies from suprnova.com
i kwow you all think i sound like someone who just came walking out of a cage, but all that english everywhere on the net.... hard to understand for a dutchman. any way, i hope there is sonebody who can tell me in plain english (is that correctly written?)
how to use bittorrent and anything involved in it. thank for your time.

greetz grom holland, eleanore.

The first thing you need to do is download a bittorrent client, there are lots out there, such as ABC and Azureus. A bittorrent client will allow you to add multiple torrent's, pause, resume etc.
I would personally recomend ABC, you can download it from here: http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/download.php
Installing is very simple, just follow the on screen instructions.

Now open up abc.

Next you need to go back to http://www.suprnova.org/ and re-download the godfather. It should download that "little file" again, but this time it should open up in abc, and it will start downloading :) If the download starts out slow, don't worry, its speed will increase with time.

If you have a firewall you need to allow "put a hole in it" so to speak, to allow you to get faster downloads, but i wont go into how you do thid unless you have a firewall.

I hope this help

DL stands for DownLoad, and UL for UpLoad, so DL-speed is the speed that you are getting the file from other people, and upload is the speed at which you are sharing it :)

Seeds refers to the number of people who have completely downloaded the file and are "seeding" (sharing) the file with everyone else. It's common courtesy to keep sharing once you have finished downloading until you DL/UL ratio is 100%, this means that you share the same amount as you download, as people are only able to download if theres someone uploading :)
