Guys I have been burning DVD's for some time with great success until recently. I use DVD Shrink and Nero but now Nero won't get past Disc at Once. I get the error message could not perform end of disc at once and then the burn fails. I have tried the following media with the same problem, SONY, Princo, Ritek and imation. Can anyone help me oput or do I need a new burner. This one is less than one year old. Thanks in advance
Here is a copy of the error message

You are getting a 'Write Error'. I would recommend trying a slower write speed and/or different brand of DVD Media.

Dust on the media or optical head can cause this as well. Or if the recorder is in an area with poor airflow, overheating can be an issue.

Do you have the latest firmware for your recorder?

Craig

Thanks fdor the reply, I have tried different media and I have the latest firmware for my Burner but still having the same problem even after slowing down the speed to 2x. I have sent the same error message to LG to see what they have to say, but I think I will be looking at a new burner.
Can Nero burn dvds on the fly as this one still reads dvds ok.

Yes, Nero can burn DVDs on the fly, but when you start seeing issues, it's best to write to the hard drive first, and then burn to DVD.

Geoff - try downloading and installing this and try again:
http://www.clonecd.net/aspi.htm

You may have a corrupted aspi layer which this will fix (perfectly safe to install).

I downloaded the ASPI file as suggested and then ran the aspichk and this is what I see.

It then gives me the option of close or ignore, both do nothing but close the application.
Any furhter info would me muchly appreciated.

From the read out it seems you don't even have winaspi.dll file installed. This could indeed be the problem. Go here, scroll down, download and install the winaspi32.dll file:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/index.shtml

Then just try using Shrink/Nero again.

Thanks for all the help but after doing what you suggested witht he winaspi32.dll the same problem still exists. I think I will just buy a new burner and use this one for reading only and burning CD's when I need to.

Once again thanks, this is a great site for info.

You could try uninstalling and re-installing Nero first to see if that makes any difference. Good luck.

Thanks Discmania

I already tried re installing Nero and DVD Shrink and still same problem. I have bitten the bullet and bought myself a Pioneer 108D DL Burner and all is working just dandy now, back to burning again.

In my thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/116563
I explain a similar, if not identical problem. I believe it happened when I tried to originally update Nero. For me it seems unrelated to media (as I used to use the same stack 100% reliably), ASPI layer update, firmware updates, and nero upgrades don't help either. Nothing works for me. It's unfortunate the only solution you found was to buy a new burner. Is there no better alternative?

Hi Khowland,

His solution is not nessacarily your solution as he may have actually had a defective recorder.

Did you try a third party software, just to rule the software out as the possible cause, or confirm that it is the cause?

There are a number that users on this forum can recommend. I would recommend one that is a Free Demo such as www.ntius.com or similar programs that offer a free Demo.
