You might want to look at converting to DiVX/Xvid to get a file that small.

That's a very nice forum. Been there, searched there, read the forum posting rules there AND here ,read the guide recommended from your previous answer.. Here's what the guide says and I had already read it before I posted here.

"adjust the data consuming so that the movie would fit perfectly on two regular 74 minute CDs. Some people prefer encoding videos to one CD, but that is a significant compromise on quality and we wont do that in here. "

Last time I checked the english language and my math, 2 700MB CD's is NOT what I am asking to do. I asked for 128 or 256mb. The guide doesnt address that size. I've played plenty of 1 CD movies in my player with excellent quality. The guide clearly states that is not what the guide is going to do. And that guide is over 2 years old. Surely there is a more updated procedure. Clearly, THAT guide will not do what I asked to do.

Allow me to clarify my question:

Is it possible to shrink a DVD movie to a 128 MB size with a program that may be linked to this site? A simple YES or NO will do.

If the answer is yes, what link to what guide or program would a person go to? Again, another one word answer will do.
Because the DVD to Divix guide clearly states it isnt going to accomplish what I am asking.
Lastly, Do the forum rules apply to ONLY the users not the moderators?

"7. Describe your problem specifically -- including the thread topic, because this helps people who are willing to answer to you."

Is a specfically asked question not entitled to a specific answer? I guess not here...must not be "willing" to help here. No problem.

To an extent, yes.

Snap your fingers at paid tech support, not me. I'm here on my own free time so at this point all I can say to you is go get bent. If you don't like it you can lodge a complaint to the Admins here at this address:

What size is your DVD before shrinking -- you not specific there !

Average DVD are just a shade over 5G --- if it's that much -- irregardless of the size-- you dont need anyone to tell you if it will be shrunk to 128 or even 256MB in DVDShrink .

Take 2 minutes of your own time -- load that DVD in -- Select CUSTOM Ratio and move that slider all the way to the left ! You will get your answer.

As to what software can do what you want -- a Miracle could do it ! 5GB into 256MB are you serious !

In closing, Moderators in here merit all the respect people can offer ! They are benefactors that in their spare time moderate -- when they see they can drop a hint to a person so they can figure things faster and get on the right track --- they DO !

That is how I read Nephilim's post to you --

Regards !

The guide says 2x700MB, but if you look into that guide, read it few times, you can see that the same guide can be used to make 128MB as well. The whole point of our guides being long and explanative (grammar?) is that we try to teach our users to understand the nice little deeper workings of audio and video, rather than numb-mindedly repeating steps taught in the guides.

So, using that guide, but adjusting bitrates accordingly to achieve 128MB file is the task you're looking at. In case you're planning to encode the video to be watched with a non-PC, like a PDA, I'd also recommend shrinking the resolution down to size of your desired screen -- I encode my clips every now and then to 256MB with 320x240 and watch them on my iPaq (although now that I'm back in London, I wont dig out my PDA when sitting in tube, coming from a country where crime is virtually non-existent doesn't mean that you act stupidly)...

I was looking for something that can shrink a whole DVD to fit on a 256mb or 512 mb. I found one called DVD to Pocket PC Wizard. $33AU, works like a charm. Now my kids watch their fav. DVDs on the PDA while in the car on long journeys.
After you use DVD Shrink to backup your original DVD's you can use the backed up Video TS file to convert to pocket pc size. Can also convert MPEG and AVI files to 256mb or 512mb.
