Would it be possible for you to put up a pic of your
screen ( or a link to the photo of your screen ) so
I can view it?? I'd like to see the animated work I
posted earlier on page 130 ( 24. September 2006 @ 23:35 )
and how you are unable to scroll down to hide the top
banner info. Just call me MR. CURIOUS !!

Only off a phone camera, but note the lack of any scrolling facility.

I'll be dang !! There ARE disadvantages to those large screen
monitors !! Thanks much for using your phone camera to show
me exactly how your large screen appears. Guess the only
thing you could do is play around with image re-sizing.
Maybe if you sized the image to be slightly larger than
your screen the vertical scroll bar would appear automatically.
If you try this and it works be sure to post another screen shot.
Just call me MR. CURIOUS !!
P.S. Thanks again for taking the extra time to illustrate
your screen situation for me. Actually, your phone camera
picks up more detail than I would have ever imagined.
Pretty cool !!
I think there is a member out there who is having a
Birthday today so I hope they remember to post on this thread.

ZCONCEPT,
Quote: I'll be dang !! There ARE disadvantages to those large screen

Maybe a minor annoyance but not a disadvantage. One of the downsides to any LED monitor whether it is 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 is that they only work well at certain resolutions. With the widescreens, it's better to set them at the native resolution and let the computer resolve the resolution for a given program or game. It seems to work best this way, at least for me. I run 1680x1050 all the time and have no real problems with anything. One down side is when you do a new build, windows sets the resolution and on mine I get an out of range signal dancing around the screen. I've learned not to allow that and say no when it asks if you want to keep a certain resolution. Sometimes I have to drag a CRT out just to set the resolution and then hook it back up to the LED monitor. Generally it will work in anything above 1024x768. As you know windows sets it at 600x800 which mine won't see until windows is fully set up. I don't fool with it and just set it to 1680x1050. It may only have this problem in analog as I don't remember having any problems with the digital!
Still, widescreen DVDs look magnificent. If your desktop has a 4:3 image then it will look stretched (not 4:3 DVDs)but I just look for widescreen wallpapers and it works fine. I also like the fact that you can use any pic you want. My present desktop wallpaper would very quickly ruin a CRT screen. It's a pretty neat flying saucer with an energy bolt (like lightning) and where it strikes is white hot! It would quickly burn in on a CRT. I like it! Check it out!

That's interesting Russ, I wonder what mine supports...
Hmm, 800x600, but not 640x480, so VGA mode might be an issue...

Sam,
Quote: Hmm, 800x600, but not 640x480, so VGA mode might be an issue...
That's my best guess as the min you say OK, the screen goes blank except for a little box that says out of range skipping all over the place. Once set up you can play a game like Quake in 640x480 with no problem. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me! LOL!! Like I say, I don't remember it doing it with digital, only analog. The post screen doesn't let you see the whole screen in analog, but it shows everything perfect when using DVI. I usually keep a decent 14" around in case I run into that problem on a new build. A lot depends on the video card. Most of my builds use on-board video as they are for office work, so you don't need anything fancy! Once set up to 1280x1024 the Sceptre works fine!
BTW, I've learned a few tricks when watching DVDs using Power DVD-6 (which I like very much). For watching some of the older widescreen 16:9 DVDs, go to the "Pan & Scan". I know on Close Encounters, there's a small border on either side of the picture. If I turn off the Aspect Ratio, it makes the picture bigger but the proportions are still correct. Old style letterbox works best by using the 1.85 setting. If you use PDVD-6, fool around with the pan & scan settings. The results will surprise you. Some DVDs start up with the wrong aspect ratio and if you click on 1.35 (I think) it makes it correct! Sometimes just turning the aspect ratio on and off does the trick! You can't hurt anything so no worries there! I just wish you could run slo-mo!

ddp,
Here's a little something to put a smile on your face for your birthday! Nothing like a letter to Bill Gates to brighten up the day!
Dear Mr. Bill Gates,
This letter is from Banta Singh from Punjab . We have bought a computer for our home and we found problems, which I want to bring to your notice.
1. After connecting to internet we planned to open e-mail account and
whenever we fill the form in Hotmail in the password column, only ****** appears, but in the rest of the fields whatever we typed appears, but we face this problem only in password field. We checked with hardware vendor Santa Singh and he said that there is no problem in keyboard. Because of this we open the e-mail account with password *****. I request you to check this as we ourselves do not know what the password is.
2. We are unable to enter anything after we click the 'shut down ' button.
3. There is a button 'start' but there is no "stop" button. We request you to check this.
4. We find there is 'Run' in the menu. One of my friend clicked 'run ' has ran up to Amritsar ! So, we request you to change that to "sit", so that we can click that by sitting.
5. One doubt is that any 're-scooter' available in system? As I find only 're-cycle', but I own a scooter at my home.
6. There is 'Find' button but it is not working properly. My wife lost the door key and we tried a lot for tracing the key with this ' find', but unable to trace. Is it a bug??
7. Every night I am not sleeping as I have to protect my 'mouse' from CAT, So I suggest u to provide one DOG to kill that cat.
8. Please confirm when u are going to give me money for winning 'HEARTS' (playing cards in games) .
9. My child learnt 'Microsoft word' now he wants to learn 'Microsoft
sentence', so when u will provide that?
Best regards,
Banta Singh
Hope this makes you chuckle a bit, and Happy Birthday,
theone

@ ddp...
I have a lot of friends many of which are already in their 50's, so on my 49th BD I was informed that they were rather tired of me still being in my 40's so I was given a 50th BD party and was told that I had to go through it twice!
Some friends, eh?
