Neph, sounds like your sis is a very good person.
I've met alot of adults who have left bad situations alone. One PAL of mine ended up in drug rehab after a long depressing bout with a very emotionally and physically abusive single father.
He was addicted to Crystal Meth, Crack/Cocaine, and Heroin. He said he used it daily and almost constantly before, during, and after school and all night long until he was too tired to stay awake. He got a bad infection in his right arm from sharing needles(no AIDS though) and they had to remove one of his fingers. He had a very sullen wraithish figure. I could have sworn he was dead when he slept in class.
He's been clean for about a year now and he's been put in foster care with a very loving family who I know. His father is in prison for 15 years for the abuse he suffered.

I am glad he was able to find help... my gily was about to comit suicide befor I talked her out of it and got her help! I don't want to go into detail!
Neph,
It sounds like your sister is doing a great thing! We could use her here in Washington, we are the state with the highest percentage of child abuse! I though you lived in the UK not Arizona!
I'll be flyin into Sky Harbor internation next week so yeah I will be in your Hometown!

Neph,
Quote: I don't know how she she deals with it but those kids are lucky she does because she fights tooth and nail for every one of her kids :)
It takes a "special" kind of person to handle all the emotions you have to go through in dealing with abused children. It's what I wanted to do growing up. First year of College went fine and then about 3/4 of the way through our second year we started doing clinical studies as observers in the clinics in the ghettos of Newark. I used to go home and cry! My wife finally told me to either stay in the Dental business, choose a new career or a new wife because if I didn't quit, she was leaving! I just didn't have it in me. I wasn't hard enough! God bless people like your sister because the world is a much better place because of people like her! BTW! I eventually went back to school 20 years later for the last 2 years and got my degree.
Happy Computering,
theone

I,m probably older than most of the people on this forum, but I don't worry about thing I can't control. Every day I get up I'm a different age, sometimes I feel very young, sometimes I'm my real age and that sucks! My advice? Live every day like it was your last and rock on man cause, someday you won't have the energy.

To the person who is going to be 29 on the 24th of March-that really
isn't over the hill. I'll be 66 on the 24th. Love this Afterdawn
web site. I've learned so much. Just goes to prove you can teach
an old dog new tricks.
My friends my age think I've lost my mind. They still think computers
are just a fad. Thank God I'm not so old that I think like that. We
haven't seen anything yet.
I'm really impressed with all the younger members that are so sharp!
This world is out there waiting for you.

Ripper,
Quote: Why? Is there something wrong with intellectual 14 year olds? Or children under 15 in general? Or maybe just intellectual children..?
I think Estuansis was just funnin with him! I laughed when I read the 15!
I was an intellectual 14 year old! I didn't get to be a child until I was about 40!LOL!! The day there's no child left in me, bury me! I'll be 63 in June! I love it as I get to be a child everytime my grandkids come over! They seem to love Uno, Yatzee and Candyland with maybe a little Mouse Trap thrown in. They know that "Grandpa" is always up for a game or two!
I attribute all of this to senility!
Happy Computering and Happy Birthday to all,
theone
