Hello, I got a copying issue. I use to use DVD Xcopy Express, until we all got screwed on the activation problem. Well anyways, I am trying to copy a 8 gig movie (Saving Private Ryan) with DVD Shrink. All new movies have this Copyright protection issue, which it is legal to make copies of your own movie titles. I shrink it down to 4.3gig, main movie only. Works fine up to that point. I take the 4.3 gig movie and open it up in Img Tool Burn and the errors "could not perform end of Disc-At-Once" and "session fixation error". Within DVD Shrink, Backup DVD part, on the Target device tab, there are the options Burn with Nero or Iso Image file and burn with DVD Decrypter. Well, when I try to take the 4.3 gig movie and try to burn it in Nero or DVD Decrypter, it will not proceed past "Writing Lead In". Then a message "Burn Failed" appears. I have tried many different software titles, demos and free titles. None of them will burn the movie.
Here are my Hardware and Software stats:
Pentium 4 : 2.4 GHz, Windows XP
Samsung DVD-ROM
ATAPI DVD+RW 4x4x12
Nero Express 5.5.10.56
DVD Shrink 3.2
DVD Decrypter 3.5.2.0
Img Tool Burn 1.1.6

Can anyone tell me what the problem could be or should I be using different software, or give me a detailed description of what I may be doing wrong with the software I am using now. I appreciate the help if any, thank you.

Hi

I think all you need is "DVD Shrink version 3.x.x"
and it "requires" -Ahead Nero Burning ROM v6.3.1.25 -

Here simple procedure how to rip only movie portion
of original dvd.

1. activate dvd shrink 3.2
2. Click "Re-Author"
3. Choose "Browser Tab" next to the "compression setting tab"
4. From Browser tab selected, find the DVD source.
(that is dvd driver, which loading your dvd movie)
5. Find "Main Movie" - see below link for info.

6. Find the main source and drag it to the left window using your mouse.

7. from the below pic. click #4 button. then find your source to be ripped.

8. If your dragged more than 1 source, make sure delete others from left window since other source might be just extra stuffs.

9. Insert Blank DVD to burner.

10. When everything is ready, click file/ back up.
It will start ripping. After it completes, it will
starting to burn your image to the blank dvd.

* You must have Nero Burning ROM!!!

There is alot of ways to back them up. But myself I use DVDShrink and then use IMGTool with Nero suport to burn them. I learned by finding DVDshrink guides. There alot of goodones out there. But anyway the person above seems to be backing them up right with DVDShrink just having problems burning them for some reason. He has the right IMGTool for his version of Nero just looking up on the errors he is getting and what could cause them problems.

Thanks for the info.
I got above instruction from other website.
It mentioned that in order to make dvd shrinker work,
you have to have Nero Burning ROM installed.

Anyway, I got some error trying to copy a whole dvd
(that is using "back up" option of dvd shrinker)
So, I tried to copy only movie itself using above procedure (no dvd main title no extra stuffs..etc,.)
Then, I succeed. I played the movie from Playstation 2.

Just for your information you dont have to have Nero installed to use DVDShrink. You need Nero if you have the option checked to burn with Nero. But you can uncheck that option so its off in prefrences and use DVD Dycrpter, IMGTool etc etc programs to burn.

I have had the same error messages when backing up my dvds before. I also received an error message just after the burn process started. I bought a different brand of media and have not had this problem since. I have found that some dvd burners will only support certain brands of media. I have found sony dvd-r and tdk + and -r both work with my burner.

Hi
Use decrypter to rip your dvd. Once it has finished, it will go to your hard drive. Then use Instant Copy. Open up Instant Copy, and look for the dvd you have just ripped to your hard drive, press start, and away you go. At the end of the burning process, it will say "download completed".
