I bought 2 pioneer dvr-109 and everytime I try to burn a dvd, I get an error message. The process gets to 100% and the the error shows. I have tried multiple burning programs and no help. I put my pioneer dvr-a06u back in, and i have no problems.

up date the firmware. There seem to be some troubles and the update is helping. I have read that other people are having the same trouble. I hope this will help.

Where did you buy it? Is it internal or external? I looking into buying the Pioneer DVR-109.

If it's not ok to say where you you got is just tell me are you in the USA? Was it on line or in the store?

I was considering buying the dvr-109 but in tests it would not back up most dvd's. It has some kind of dvd copywrite blocking software. Have you had any problems backing up your dvds?

Thanks,
Amber

In this review:
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=12802
It says under the protected disc page of the review that they could not write a copy of the disc they ripped. It seems to rip ok but didn't make the dvd backup. It looks like it was a video game they were backing up though so maybe you just cant back up your pc or psx video games.
I'm not using anything right now as I don't have a dvd burner yet. I'm guessing your asking me which software I will use to backup stuff?

Thanks,
Amber

Ok, I got my dvr-109 and it's installed. I tried to update the firmware but it seems I already have the latest.

It came with no cd or drivers and I cant seem to find them on-line. Don't I need to install the dvr-109 or it's drivers from somewhere?

What programs or utilities should I install?

Thanks,
Amber

If you XP the plug and play will pick it up so you should be all good.

HI all,
I'm having the same problem. Trying to backup PS2 games and it ripped okay using DVD Decrypter but when usin Nero to burn, it failed at 100% said something about "Invalid field in command", "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once".

Do I need to use another software to burn? Thanks.

BTW - I'm updated my firmware to 1.40. It came with 1.17 but I've found 1.40 at another Forum.

just use decrypter to do everything for you. Decrypt and burn...why use Nero to burn?

Just personal preference. BTW - got the problem fixed. I downloaded the latest Nero and everything works fine now. Guess the old version of Nero had some problem with this drive.

What read speeds are you acquiring with dvds? mine reads @ 2.2 tops with decrypter (about 2,700KB/s). i'm not sure which version of firmware i'm using. i just installed the drive installed the Ulead programs it came with, and started backing up my collection.

Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I just got that same Pioneer DVD burner installed into my iMac G4 yesterday. And I don't know the first thing about getting set up to start bunring DVDs. I knew I had iDVD (from last year's iLife pack), so I installed that and it looks like it'll be great...for burning home movies. But what about for making copies of DVDs? How do I go about doing that? I read here that DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are things I should have installed. So, I thought I did that. I followed the instructions on here, and when they each unzipped they just stayed like white documents on my desktop. When I double click either, it opens my iTunes. Does anyone know what I did or am doing wrong?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
:)

Hey, I just picked this up, and the strangest thing happens when I try to backup a DVD, on my Samsung player, you just see "menu" on the player LCD screen and it freezes, you can't do anything but power it off or open the disc try. The funny thing is, it works on almost every other player I try, but I know it's definately not my player's compatibilty, because I've backed up movies using my friends burner and they work fine, but if I try the exact same type of disc on my burner, I get this error, do I need to update the firmware or something? Oh and I burn with Nero.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

They play fine on the computer you burnt them on? I think it is your compatibilty with your player. Especialy if you can play them on other dvd players.

Yes they do, but the part your missing is that I burnt a movie using the EXACT SAME DISK (a Verbatim DVD-R) using my friend's burner, and it plays on my home DVD player (the non-computer one) just fine. And I burnt a movie using the same kind of disc on my burner, and it doesn't work, just freezes at the menu. It's very weird I know.
