I am a rookie looking to back up my personal dvd's. I bought an external drive, and Nero OEM Suite. After I fished shrinking with dvd shrik it still says that my dvd+r does not have enough room. Is there a simpler program that does all the shrinking an copying, or is my Nero and older verson. I am looking for any help that a smarter person can give me so I can begin. Or let me know the exact proccess and software that someone is using that will work good. thanks

Try editing the final size of the DVD in shrink.

You can do this by opening up Shrink and then click the Edit option at the top then click on prefrences in the pull down menu.

When the window opens you should see the area that says Target size. If you havent changed this then it probaly says DVD5.

Click the drop down menu where it says DVD5 and then scroll to custom.

You will see the window beside custom now apear the number reads 4464 change the number to 4300.

This will bring the final size down on the movie and give a little room for miss caculations DVD Shrink might make on size.

Plus it will help with the final copy so it dosent get to the edges of the disk where the dye could be defected which could give you a bad burn.

Most people have it set at 4300 so try that run DVDShrink again and then try burrning. It should work

I tried shrinking and then using the decrypter, but when I try and get the source to write from off of my drive, it say that the file can not be found. Any hints or tips? thanks

This is what I get when I try to burn using the burner drive with Nero? I use dvdecryper, then dvdshrink to the Nero burn?

I tried to burn with decrypter and if failed again at 30 percent. It said something about "device failed in CDB" What does that mean, and do I need a better burner? I will take any advice you can give me. Which of these two would you recomend buying if I were to bet a new burner drive, and with what software, the EXTERNAL USB 2.0 + PIONEER DVR-109 16X DVD BURNER DUAL or the NEC DUAL LAYER 16X DVD±R/RW USB 2.0 EXTERNAL DL-BURNER. thanks

i also have my dvd burner drive plugged into a usb drive that is not high speed, the message says that it will go slower, but I am wondering if it affects the success of the burn. How do i get a HISPEED usb device instaled or put in and is it worth it? thanks
