i've been trying to remove scenes from a movie using the re-author mode so that i can burn a movie from beginning to end with certain scenes deleted in the middle. so far all it has done when i backup is create a main movie and a separate extras which is actually just part of the movie i'm trying to join w/ the rest of it. is shrink not capable of doing this? if not, what (free/trial) program is?

thanx for the reply hursty, but i have been using the start/end frames. for some reason it doesn't work. i think i know a way it can work but it will be a lot of trouble unless i can find another way or another program.
westbrom, the reason i want to remove parts of a movie is so i can edit out scenes that are too violent for my young nephews to watch. that way nobody has to try to watch for the scenes and try to skip over them w/ the remote. it's all about convenience.

thanx again. i dld the trial version but it's not exactly what i'm looking for. i found a site that is suppose to be posting a guide for editing w/ shrink in the near future. in the meantime i guess i'll just keep playing around w/ different programs to try and figure something out.

hi

shrink is more of a crop the start and crop the end! its ok if you wish to keep the middle!

but the other app cuts bits out and it jions the now become 2 halves togehter shrink does not!

hope you find what you need...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

well, i played around w/ shrink enough and finally figured it out. i had the right idea but was just cropping the parts wrong. the only thing as far as playback goes that isn't quite normal is the chapter numbers. looks like they start over at number one again at the point where the scenes are spliced. i can live w/ that for now.
thanx for taking the time to help me everyone.
