Like so many others in these threads, I experienced problems when upgrading from Windows XP MCE 2005 to Vista. Specifically, I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate edition. I had ran the Vista update advisor, and received the notification that the giga pocket MPEG realtime encoder board (tv tuner) was not compatible. However, after seeing that Sony had provided several Media Center Vista updates for my model, I couldn't believe that there was no way to make it work. Fortunately, I was right.
I recieved the same errors as everyone else from MC. Basically, my tv tuner was not recognized, and when I looked in the Device Manager, the encoder board driver was not loaded. I originally tried downloading the Sony Vista OS migration updates related to MC (Vaio Media Center version SOAVMC-01347100-US.EXE 6.0.00.10100 and Vaio tv tuner library update version SOAVTL-01371500-US.EXE 1.7.00.10250). These did not solve my problem, although they may ultimately be necessary for success. I'm not sure why Sony is so illusive with regard to the solution to this problem as it is actually very simple. I simply downloaded and installed the original giga pocket driver for my model directly from sony support website. You may get a dialogue box indicating that the driver may not be configured properly. It gives you the option to reinstall to meet the operating system requirements. Do this, and restart. At this point, Vista Media Center should recognize your tv tuner, and you should be able to proceed with the setup. I know how frustrating this was for me. I hope this is useful to others.

Whats up everyone...ok, I know this has been asked a million times on this thread, but here it is again. I have a Sony TV tuner card out of an old Vaio PCV-RZ46G Desktop.
Card Info:
PCVA-IMB5A
ENX-26
I have been to the esupport.sony site, as well as different driver download sites. I finally found a driver that was specifically listed for this card, but when I download and unzip the file and then point the device at that driver, it still won't take. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have a driver that actually works, ok know how to get this stupid thing working?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

STOP, dealing with Sony... when they realized that sales are dropping then, they will question themselves their business practices.

I believe Microsoft is at fault in this case for releasing Vista which has so many driver issues for legacy products and software.

How can you point fingers to Microsoft...
who created the hardware?... SONY
So... if Sony creates a crappy S#!T, Now.. talk to Sony tech support, and tell them that the hardware is not compatible. Sony is responsible for deliver the driver(s) in order for that piece of garbage to work.
take it from me, I have many Sony's home entertaiment including Sony PS3, Sony Ericsson Cell Phone and all of them are not compatible to/with each other.
I have call to Sony tech support and always I get the run around.
Sony is the biggest crap ever invented !!!

In SONY and MICROSOFT eyes, what you guys are trying to do is a hack !. you must look for a third party driver or similar.
SONY + MICROSOFT = ARCHIE ENEMIES

First, I totally agree... sony blows for making this dumb proprietary card, that said, I have an enx-26, and thanks to this thread i have the drivers and also have gigapocket installed and working (non sony pc). as many have said and I totally agree gigapocket also blows, I'm trying to get sagetv to work on this thing and am too cheap to buy a decent hauppauge card right now so I'm trying to get this one to hold me over.
The problem I'm running into is after installing sagetv, it does not detect the card. looking further into it, it appears that sagetv automatically adds the "smrt capture" card to its ignore list in sage v5 and v6 .... does anyone have a workaround for this ? if it works even half-a$$ I'll be happy as long as I can view tv from other puters ..... thx ahead of time for any help / suggestions you can give me :)
btw, having same problem running xp-pro and vista ultimate

Hi, I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RS530G, so far this Sony has been extremely reliable until it Windows crashed the other day, probably something I installed, getting to the point, is there any way to get a complete Recovery disk without having to buy it from the thieves of Sony? I got a spare harddrive and am currently running the computer off of that.
System Info:
Windows XP Pro
Sony Vaio PCV-RS530G
280GB HDD
1GB RAM
Stupid Giga Pocket Tv Tuner Card that doesn't work...w/o official drivers.
Thank you!!!

hey all, i have what i think is a very silly question...
i have an ENX-25 card that i pulled from a dead computer at work. is everything on the back of the card for input, or are the s-video and rca jacks for output?
i am also looking for the audio out cable. i have one from my cd drive, but the plug is too big to fit into the sony card.
thanks...

The link works fine now. I finally got the composite input working with my wii, and the quality is acceptable.
I had to completely remove the old MCE driver and reinstall the 1.2 driver.
