Can somebody please help me with Dvd Shrink? I have never experienced a problem like this before, and i have always been able to burn any DVD, until now. Now when I want to backup a dvd, ir analysis quite fine, but then when when I click on 'Backup' and choose the option of burning with Nero, it comes up with an I/0 device error and stops. Sometimes it may get through to 3% of the burning process, but no further. Out of 10 dvd's I have here, all from the same manufacturer, I was only able to successfully backup one. And if I put that same one in again, it will still copy, so why wont the others?

So I read on the forum that by cleaning the disc it may get rid of the error, but the same problem persists. So I went to 'edit' in dvd shrink and then to preferences. I disabled the 'Burning with Nero' option, Then backed the dvd up as an ISO file. This encoded quite fine. I then analysised the ISO file through 'open files', then enabled the 'burning with nero' option. I then backed it up with nero and it burned successfully... Why is this? But thats not the end of my problems. With the new DVD that I have created, I can open it in dvd shrink, I can play it through dvd shrink, but i am unable to play it on my DVD player which has been able to play all of my dvd''s i have burnt with dvd shrink in the past. Does anybody know what the problem is???

I also just tried decrypting 'princess diaries 2' in dvd decrypter onto the hard drive, then I opened it up in dvd shrink and i didnt have a problem burning it... But I still cant play it on my DVD player, but i can on dvd shrink. This is the log of dvd decrypter:

Dare I say it, but to me it sounds like your media you are using.
What brand are you using?

What do you mean the media I am using? The brand of the cd rom? I dont think that should matter because I have never had this problem. Just one day DVD Shrink stopped wanting to burn my dvd's. Any ideas on how to make it work again?

Stand alone players do not always play all "brands" of DVD media.

in this case, switching to NTFS may cause more problems than are necessary. there are ways to achieve what Pemula2 needs with shrink or decryptor. come on guys be nice :)

(im not sure what to suggest cus i never have these sort of problems, im just lucky, i only have trubl with arccos etc, but again there are fixes for crap like that)

May I ask again, what brand blank media are you using?
What is your burn speed?
Are all other programs disabled whilst burning?
Have you changed from FAT32 to NTFS?
Any info you can add may help you.

Im using Strathdale cd's, a cheap australian brand. But ive never had a problem with them until now. Im not sure about the burn speed, it must be just the default setting. I think its 4 x...

I dont run any programs at the same time, but im not quite sure what you mean by disabled.

I dont know if it has been changed from FAT32 to NTFS because I dont even know what they mean.

Thanks for wanting to help :)

This is why NTFS may not be what the poster wants, especially having stated they don't know what it is. If they just 'switch to NTFS' lol they're prob gona break computer on the way as they don't know what it is or if it's even setup like that now. This sounds like a media/maybe firmware thing ??

I have just figured out the problem and can now burn any dvd i want. I uninstalled DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, then reinstalled them in a particular order with the latest version of Nero, and now it works perfect. Well most dvd players in my house can read them bar one. Buts thats a cheap AUD $50 dvd player, although it could read them before. Its got me :)

i had the same problem. I got into DVD Shrink. Then i clicked "Open Disk" it gets to about half way then it quits and says:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Failed to read file "F:\"

The request could not be performed because of an I/O
device error

I thought at first it was some new way of protection against burning dvds but the movie i was burning was an already burnt copy of the incredibles. I read something about NTFS but i am not sure what this is.

the 'failed to read' error is very common on these forums, pls do a search; there are ppl who've had probs with the incredibles but as it's a copy it should have all protections removed already. Are you sure it's a pukka copy ??. ntfs shouldn't be a concern for you at this moment as you can decrypt in file mode (ie no single file will be over the 4gb limit of 'FAT or FAT32' can't remember which.) I concede i've not yet created ISO from decryptor (purely as i haven't needed to for any reason) but still think the ntfs route is irrelevant at this moment as something simple is keeping you from copying. Could be the 'copy' you have was done on crappy media etc
