Here's a good spot to start with: [Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG, Media Type ID: R01, Product revision number: 0 ]

Try some better media. You can also check on a firmware update for your pioneer burner.

Cmags are the manufacturer the most of us stay away from.

What is the brand name of that media using the cmag mfg code?

Cmc-mag: C-magnetics corporation. One of the poorer manufacturers. They produce some of the media for major brands like:memorex/teon/few verbatim/tdk/store brand name media/ and many more.

Most brand names outsource their media to many different manufacturers. It's hard to tell which mfgs are the good ones, that is why taiyo yuden are highly preferred.

Maxell's,so far, don't use cmags, fuji's should be ok.Some members running into cmags on verbatim media now. Sony: the +1x-8x are a lot better. These sony's that are made in japan are better, some are ty's.Those phillips are ?.That's why I look for Made In Japan on those wrappers. Japanese fuji/verbatim/and maxell's are higher quality media.

Checkout dogbomb's media code list in the dvd-r media forum. Look at all the brands that use c-mags for some of their media. Pretty scary.

That's why you can burn ok for a while, then switch spindles/brands and wham, burn errors.

That's why it is best to try a better media first,to rule out if media is your problem. Sometimes a firmware update is needed, but being cmags-they can screw us up in many ways.

Firmware? It's the programming for you burner. The firmware basically tells your burner what media and what speed that you are allowed to burn a certain mfg code on the media. Usually newer media codes give errors. The firmware won't recognize these codes if they are not programmed for it. Check out this link,it may help on finding a new firmware version: http://www.americal.com/pg/dvd-burner-writer-firmware-version-updates-downloads.html?OVRAW=firmware%20updates&OVKEY=firmware%20update&OVMTC=standard

Your burn report lists cmc, therefore your firmware does recognize it.A lot of times when a firmware doesn't recognize it-it will give a general DVD+R as media being used.

There is a risk doing a firmware update.
You need to know exact burner model# and firmware version that you currently have. Nero tools will tell you.I couldn't locate your pioneer dvr-k12d latest update.I believe you have the version 1.15. You may have to go to pioneer's main website or do a google search.

Power calibration errors usually mean bad media/firmware issues.

A power calibration error can also mean that your burner is on its way to peripheral heaven. :) If you burned most of the 500 DVD's with that burner, you got your money's worth out of it, but it may be dying.

i had this problem using a nec3520a, i had difficulty with a film so i had installed several dvd encoding software, i think that there was some form of conflict with the encoding software and the writing software, i reinstalled my c drive using my norton ghost backup image and everything was fine. i now just use shrink and nero
