It'd help immensely if you could post a Nero log with the errors in it. Don't forget to remove the serial number before posting it ;)

After each burn Nero will save a log file of everything that went on, errors included. I don't have Nero installed at the moment and can't for the life of me remember where to find the log although if I remember correctly at the end of a burn Nero will ask you if you want to save the log and/or view it so it may come up if you try another burn in which case you should be able to copy and paste it into your post.

Maybe another helpful soul that knows exactly where to look will see this thread.

In windows explorer, go to Ahead, then Nero, & look in the Nero directory for nerohistory log.

Go ahead and copy and paste it into your reply then find the serial number and take it out of the post before you hit Reply. The serial should be near the top and look something like 1A23-xxxx-xxxx :)

I don't think that at all! We all started somewhere :)

We'll back up a bit here and I don't mean this in a bad way at all but are you familiar with how to "cut and paste" text?

Stick with us and we'll get you burning in no time (and I mean the good kind of burning not the kind of burning you get from the lady on the corner). ;)

Ok let's try another angle :)

What make/model burner are you using? If you're not sure Nero should list the make/model where you choose what drive you want to use before you burn.

Also what brand/type media are you using? Media quality is very important so we need to identify the manufacturer of the media. You can get this information by using a small app called DVD Identifier which you can download here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm

I'm betting all my money it's the media thats causing the failed burns. I'd recommend getting some of the good stuff for testing such as Verbatim Advanced AZO, Maxell or TDK which you can pick up in most stores.

To copy and paste you need to hold down the left mouse key then drag the mouse over the text you want to highlight - you'll see the highlighted text change color. Once you've highlighted what you want let go of the left mouse key and move the cursor over the highlighted text then click the right mouse key. A menu will appear with one of the selections being "Copy". Select that and your highlighted text will be saved to Windows Clipboard. Now you can right click the empty space in a post response and you'll get the same menu but this time click "Paste" and the text in Windows Clipboard will be pasted into your post :)

You actually don't need to open Clipboard. All you need to do is right click where you want to put the text you copied then select "Paste".

Just for giggles you can view what's in your clipboard by clicking:

Start >
Run >

Then type "clipbrd" in the dialog box.

Ok I see a few things that may be a problem.

You're getting a Key Medium Error which usually indicates a problem with the media being of low quality. Nero's also trying to burn the disc at 8X which is probably way too fast given the media you're using.

I'm really tired right now and may be reading the log wrong but it appears the reader and writer are on the same cable and from the times it also appears Nero may trying to do an "on the fly" burn which can be a definite problem if the drives are on the same cable.

Are you copying discs from one drive to another or are you burning files that are already on your hard drive?

While Nephilim sorts through the log for you, I would consider his thought on higher quailty media. It does solve many problems.

Cool beans. In that case my first recommendation would be to lower the burn speed to 4X then if that doesn't work knock it down to 2X. If lowering the burn speed doesn't do the trick its probably time to pick up some of the media I recommended earlier.

Could you run one of your blank discs through DVD Identifier and let us know what the manufacturer ID is? Here's a link to the download:
