I have recently fell to the temptation of newer must be better! I have upgraded (So I thought) to the newest ver. of Shrink from 2.3. I like the idea of having burning capability instead of having to use another program manually. Anyway, I keep getting

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot conitinue Copy Protection Error Request could not be performed due to an I/O device error

I search around and have found that this may have something to do with Nero (I'm using 5.5 ver.). I have also used differnet setting such as the deep analysis and the seeitn underneath deep analsis. Has anyone come across a fix for this? Can I use 2.3 on my computer w/out uninstalling the new version to see if this is the problem.

Somewhere on this forum it was recommended to use the newer version because of new encrytion tecnology. My old way to backup was Shrink 2.3 and then Recordnow MAX to burn, But I had trouble backing up the Resident Evil 2.

You have run into the new copy protection scheme that is starting to show up. Rip the movie to your hard drive first with DVD Decrypter and then use Shrink. Shrink cannot handle the new copy protection. Decrypter, AnyDVD can.

Shrink has never been able to burn a movie. The new version can open another burning program and use it though. The ones it can use are DVD Decrypter, Nero6 and I think one called CopytoDVD. I don't know if it can use Nero 5.5.

You enable burning with Nero in Preferences and if you want Shrink to burn with Decrypter you select that as a target after you press the Backup! button. Shrink opens the selected program for you and starts the burn with it.
