If you are using Shrink, you usually press backup first and then it encodes. Why don't you try this guide

I had this happen 2 times this weekend. But doing extended LOTR - 2 disks and when DVDShrink was done, the orig. was ejected and the pop up said something like "if you want to use the media again, please insert disk". Strange.

So, I just inserted the dish, it erased the files and I started from stratch and the second time on both disks, it ejected the disk and asked for new media (the usually message). Inserted and wrote away.

Something new all the time. Killed about 30 minutes each, but not too bad.
