DuckDude,
Welcome to the forum. First problem is the blank media as CMC has no quality control and is usually bad media. Try Verbatim blank disks
Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AF1

Next error:
3:35:44 PM #26 SCSI -1114 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1432
SCSI Exec, HA 3, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x00CD0000
Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)
HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
Sense Key: 0x06 (KEY_UNIT_ATTENTION)

Check the burner as Nero is not liking the burner

Try this :
Use better Blank Media( Verbatim)
Rip the DVD using DVDDecrypter in File Mode ( all files). Then compress the files using Shrink. Now we will backup the files in .iso mode
1.When you click on backup you will see " Select backup target target". Make sure it reads now "Iso image file and burn w/ DVDDecrypter".
I would like to try it this way to see if the burner is working properly and see if it might be Nero

Hi Duckdude, i recognised your name from another thread - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/4/172564 - you were asking about Imation DVD-R's. Seems you fell foul of the dreaded CMC Mags (shudder!)

Anyway, Car.Mike seems to have some good suggestions there for you.. you should be sorted..

Car.Mike:

I was able to burn by ripping by using DVD Decrypter, shrink using DVD Shrink, then burning with DVD Decrypter. Apparently Nero doesn't like my Burner!

I've burned 6 dvds using the method you suggested... 3 on imation and 3 using Memorex media! So the problem is between Nero and my burner.. hmm odd odd odd.

My Burner is a multi-format 16x Burner. Right now, im using dvd-r blanks. I wonder if Nero would like Dvd+r blanks? Using DVD Decrypter, it said the max burn speed was 4x on both brands of media. Isn't that odd since the Media is 8X media and the drive is 16x?

Thanks,

Donald

dvd burning shouldn't be a problem for anyone. At the very least we should all be able to use any old crap DVD media and get good results the way you can with crap CD's.

then i woke up !

:)

I'm not always the best at explaining things, but here goes -

I use Verbatim datalifeplus. Most have MCC media codes - which is Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (their parent company). They are reputable, top quality discs.
However there are others (ie Imation, who use CMC factories for instance, to make their discs, amongst other factories) - questionable quality. The older datalife (not plus discs) used CMC among others, and not necessarily as good quality)

- snippets from http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431
CMC are the absolute pits. The Media code is in brackets after the 'brand' name -

Imation DVD+R 2.4x (RICOHJPNR00)
Imation DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG.F01)
Imation DVD+R 4x (RICOHJPNR01)
Imation DVD+RW 2.4x (CMC MAG.W01)
Imation DVD+RW 2.4x (RICOHJPNW01)
Imation DVD+RW 4x (RICOHJPNW11)
Imation DVD-R 1x (RITEKG03....)

Verbatim DataLife DVD+R 2.4x (CMC MAG.R01)
Verbatim DataLife DVD+R 4x (RICOHJPNR01)
Verbatim DataLife DVD-R 2x (CMC MAG. AF1)
Verbatim DataLife DVD-R 2x (CMC MAG.AF01)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 12x (MCC.....003)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 4x (MCC.....002)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 4x Pastel (YUDEN000-T01-000)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 8x (MCC.....003)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 8x Advanced AZO (MCC.....003)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+R 8x Printable (MCC 003)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD+RW 2.4x (MCC.....A01)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-R 4x (MCC 01RG20)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-R 4x (TYG01.......)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-R 8x Advanced AZO (MCC02RG20)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-RW 1x (MCC 00RW11N9)
Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-RW 2x (MCC 01RW11n9)
Verbatim DataLifePlus SERL DVD+RW 4x (MKM A02)

When i started this DVD burning lark, i picked Bulkpaq 8x disks, i thought they'd be good - they even had media code of TYG02 - allegedly Taiyo Tuiden discs - wow i thought. I burnt many many 100s (in Nero) without a single problem. I then watched literally 100s of these without problem. Then i lent some to a colleague who said some of them skipped. I then found some to skip for me - so i had a bad batch or 4. Much investigation later, it turns out these are fakes of TY discs. So now i stick to well-known brandname discs.

My collection is now riddled with many 100s of potentially unwatchable and uncopyable dross. Not a happy bunny every time i pick up a movie to watch and it's on a Bulkpaq disk !

Hope all that came out right and makes sense

The oddest thing... I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder... the kind for a TV... like a VCR only it burns to DVD, and I have used the cheapest media i could find in it. I haven't had one bad burn. Not even one!

My computer used to burn dvds without problems. I burned about 10 without any bad burns. There is something causing Nero not to work properly. I did upgrade to the new version... Probably my mistake right there!

Verbatim 8x 4.7 GB DVD-R Spindle (50 Discs) for $36.44. Is that a good price for them or can i get a better deal elsewhere?

Thanks,

i'm in the UK so don't know. Do a quick search in the dvd-r media forum and there's loads of discussion from myself, kivory666 (he's like me, once he sees a Verbatim or TY related (and CMC too!) thread, he pounces!)) and many more posters re Verbatim specifically, and other posters too, especially re US-based sales etc

DuckDude,
D/L DVDinfoPro ( free ) and do a CRC Test on the burned disks. The program will also tell you who really made the disks. I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim disks and have never had a bad one.
You also need to D/L Nero Clean Tools:

Nero.com/enu/Clean_Tools.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/enu/Clean_Tools.html

Nero Clean Tools will remove what is left of Nero after you uninstall the program. After that then re-boot and re-install Nero but do not install INCD ( I think it is the 3rd Module)as it cause problems w/ some of the burners. This might be your problem now.

cheers Car.Mike i forgot to comment on the CRC / inCD aspects. Haven't seen you around here for a while. (i was just used to you pipping me to posts a lot that's all!)

@DuckDude - in that Amazon link you sent, the reviewer at bottom of the page has it arse about face, he was saying that these days Verbatim rebadge other ppl's media. I've read lots of stuff about Verbatim and my understanding is that it's the other way round, ie they have been known to use 'less than perfect' manufacturers in the past, but not anymore..

Hi there,

Check on the LG website: http://us.lgservice.com

There is firmware v1.04 for your drive.

New firmware always help with new media codes etc...

Try that also, might help with this brand of media !

Look at Newegg.com or Meritline.com. See if the Taiyo Yudens are on sale and they also carry Verbatim and they also might be on sale.

Wait, the only thing i haven't tried is better media... Is it possible that bad media is causing all the problems? If that is the case, it is between Nero and the Media since the dvds burn using DVD Decrypter.

- there's a couple more revisions of firmware - A105 & A106; not sure what's changed in them though. have a look here, but still no definitive answer. I detest the way most manufacturers just don't advertise the changes within firmware

- you have Packet writing software such as InCD installed. It interferes with Nero, uninstall it. Then try a simulation burn so you don't waste a disc and see what happens

DuckDude,
Did a google search on " CDRALW2K.SYS'". That seems to be a driver in Roxio. If you have Roxio on the computer uninstall the Drag to Disc feature. That screws ups burning

Thanks:

Im hoping this CDRALW2K.SYS thing is my problem. I had InCD installed but uninstalled it. I have NEVER had a Roxio program on this computer. So, something else must be using Roxio drivers. I HATE roxio personally. I never got roxio working on my other computer i had. I tried everything! It just refused to burn. I had a Plextor Drive and installed Nero. I never burned a bad cd on that old computer with Nero. Roxio is just evil.

But getting back to my new computer... Im just going to delete the CDRALW2K.SYS file and reboot. I 'll search for it again, if it doesn't show up, then i'll try another burn!

Thanks you all. I hope this fixes it.

re roxio - i agree personally.

as for InCD - what's wierd is Nero themselves do a a product called Incd - "http://www.nero.com/en/Nero_6_Reloaded_Update.php"

I know i haven't installed it, the problem (in my opinion) is that Nero, like most other products out there, have far too much bloatware included, or too much choice. Hence you may have installed it purely cus it was bundled.

IMHO the problem is with the Roxio driver, which does not play well together with Nero. I have had InCD on my computer for years and all runs fine, as long I don't let it load at startup, however some people do have problems with packet writing software and burning.

I tried deleting the Roxio file, then all my CD/DVD drives disappeared. They Showed up in the bios however. When i went to the windows device manager, it had the yellow exclamation marks.

I found this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315378

I am out of town for the weekend, but i'll try this when i get back.

Thanks for the suggestions,
