i have a stereo with 2 speakers as usual, but i want to hook up more speakers problem is my stereo does not have any more places for me to insert more sopeakers. What do i need to hook up more speakers and knock my house down with some sound

Hi there, what are you after, Dobly Digital Surround Sound or just duel stereo sound? If your amplifier has got enough grunt you could add another two speakers to the binding posts of the amp, if it kicks out enough wattage, and has support for low or high impedances you might be able to achieve your house destroying sound :-)

if adding speakers to a stereo setup whould work with the amp than what would be best, turning up the ohms or lowering?

Depends on your amps ohmage rating, if you connect your speakers in series circuit then the ohmage is doubled, or if you connect the speakers in parrallel circuit then the ohmage is halfed.
So, if you had an amp with an 8 to 16 ohm rating then you could connect up two sets of 8 ohm speakers in series making the ohmage load about 16 ohms a channel.

Hmmm, thats interesting theres a whole science to it. my speakers make more than enough boom for me though, i got a pair of Cerwin-Vega CLSC-12s. they're insane! im not even running them on a real stereo setup. im driving them on the Sony MHC-GX45. :\ Not that i want to, im poor you see. lol....

actually, while i have a knowlegable persons attention, what brand and make reciever/amp would best go with my speakers? i dont want 5.1 or anything just a stereo setup. any price range just wondering. Thanks for any feedback.

Have a look at the power amps that would not only blow your house down but you may even damage the house next door too :)

Personally, i wouldnt go towards McIntosh. Marantz Onkyo and Pioneer all do top amps for a lot less. You can get into seriously silly money, but why? Most of the real expensive stuff isnt really built for the home end-user.

Is a tad ambigious. You could have any number of amps, but it depends on your budget.
Top of the range silly money:
Moon i5 Amplifier at around £2600:
or for nearly £5000, you could hook it up to a pre-amp P5:
Nad, Arcam, Marantz, Denon, Cyrus and even Sony do more sensible stuff though. You want silly stuff though, have a look at some of the Lex gear...

I know a guy that has about £50k worth of home cinema gear (including projector at £20k and screen). His audio setup is amazing:
Lexicon RV-8 Receiver £6k:
AudioLabs Aragon 2007 Power Amplifer:
This baby kicks out 200W RMS per channel (7 channels)
Moon Orbiter DVD player:
Infocus Screenplay 777 at £20k
He has a £4000 Stewart Screen with Tiny holes to let sound through it from behind:
He has a Polk LSi Centre Speaker:
Polk LSi15 Front Right/Left speakers:
He has two sets of Polk LSiFX Speakers for left/right surround and rear left/right surround:
I believe he has a Moon P3 pre-amp powering his two subs (bridged amp i think):
One Sub - Monitor Audio FB12:
His Room Shaker Sub - Velodyne DD18 - About £4k
I set this system up for him, well we both did, not that long ago. He budgeted for around £100k for the whole room. He's loaded. I'll try to get some pics of his setup sometime and post them.

Yeah, i wish i could afford that sort of stuff. My mate has an airconditioning unit costing about £5k just for his "Operations Room", where he keeps the gear in a seperate room to the cinema screen. Its all water cooled and refrigerated. He even has the projector mounted inside a special glass unit that is cooled and has a hole the size of the lens so that thats all that sticks out and keeps noise to zero...

As long as you buy me something too lol.
Forget NAD, go for the Marantz gear. Get an SR9600 receiver and you are flying. I have the SR7500 myself.

What about the SR7500 or even the SR5500. Be careful with the 5400 as the Cirrus chip which is the DSP on board cuts out a lot

Ya im alot more willing to dish out about $1000. Me buying something is still a little while away as im moving soon, so i have to see how everything goes... also have to keep in mind that when i do this im gona do it right. (reciever, amp, dvd player, pre amp, etc.)

Forget the Pre-amp. Get a top Receiver, 7.1 speakers, DVD player with Progressive Scan and Component or DVI output, good CD player, and your sorted.

Forget the pre-amp? really? Are they targeted at yuppies and un-knowledgable ppl like me?
I guess what im trying to say is, does it not make a noticable difference in the sound?
