Every time I encode with CCE SP I get an mv file and the audio file but they are out of sync. I am pretty new at this and I wasn't sure why. I am using the default settings in CCE. I encode the same avi in TMPG and it's fine. Can anyone help me? I would rather use CCE than TMPG. Thanx

Well Have you decompressed the audio in your AVI file before encodeing in CCE??? CCE works Best if the audio is decompressed First before encodeing to Mpeg, It actually Works best if the Files are Frameserved to CCE as opposed to Loading them directly into CCE...

Also Make sure you are Not Converting Frame Rates in CCE because CCE doesn"t Support Frame Rate Conversions which means that if your Source AVI file has a Frame Rate of 23.976fps you "MUST" Encode it at 23.976fps and if you are Trying to make a NTSC DVD from a 23.976fps File you Have to encode it at 23.976fps with 2:3 or 3:2 Pulldown...also if the File is 25fps you have to encode it at 25fps....
If you try to Convert Frame Rates in CCE you will have Out of Sync Audio.....

CCE is actually a Very advanced encoder and should Only be used by those who know exactly what they are doing because Different Types of Files will have to be encoded a Certain way Like Take For Instance to use CCE you Must know the Resolution and Frame Rate of your Source File and you Must also Know if it is Progressive or interlaced as you have to set the "Block Scanning Order" to a certain setting Baced on if the File is Progressive or interlaced....

You also need to know the Field order of your File so you can set that setting Correctly Pluss there are a Bunch of other settings in CCE that have to be set Based on what type of File you have and without setting it up Correctly you are Going to Get Un-Satisfactory results.....

Cheers

Thanks a lot for the help. Hopefully when I get into this more I can learn to use CCE. Is there anything out there that can tell me if my AVI is proggressive/interlaced?

Generally you can tell by the Frame Rate of the File but not allways...

If the Frame Rate is 23.976fps then it will usually be Progressive...

If the Frame Rate is 29.976fps it will usually be interlaced....

If the Video is 25fps it could be interlaced or Progressive but if the Movie comes from a DVD source of a Hollywood Type movie then it will usually be Progressive ....

If you use the "Wizard" in TMPGEnc it will analize the File to and set the settings to the Correct settings Baced on if it is interlaced or Progressive......
