Its just a solderless dms4 modchip which is one of the best up there with the matrix infinity.
I remember reading the release date it was some time before christmas anyway.

yeah it does look pretty cool, but it will probably be complicated to set up i think... and for the price it will likley cost, i would pry rather get a pro install of a solder chip

They would have to make a solderless chip cheaper than a pro install on the equiv solder chip, because companies that make chips dont make as much money if a reseller did a say $40 chip install for $65 when the solder free chip may be $100, most people would get the pro install, so hopefully prices would be competitive.

I would say that it would be more expensive than a solder chip. The reason being that there would be a much lower labour charge to install the chip, so the manufacturer can afford to hike the prices. I dont think there would be a great deal of cost difference between having a pro fit a solder chip and having this solder free chip fitted. Though the less risk of damage may allow installers to fit it much cheaper as they dont need to worry so much about cost of damages to your PS2 whilst fitting it.

The whole point in it being solderless is so that you do it yourself.
Well thats what im gonna do if the price is right.

well you also gotta think... didnt they spend 18 months of research and development? im thinkin it will be about 120 the first few months, then drop its price to the 100 dollar range

Would DMS3 work with this patching thing? And, is there any unofficial list of what games work and what games don't work with this patch?

If I were to, I would go for the dms4 pro, adding whatever to its memory.
For now, I am hanging on the idea of a solderless dms4, or if my 4 yr old ps2 dies Ill get a premod slimline.

Yes, I have seen that http://www.mod-chip.com have a PStwo
v12 laser fix pcb, which basically provides resistance so that
the laser doesn't use too much current and fry itself
I believe it works with any chip
go to:
http://mod-chip.com/index2.php?go=en/select_ps2.htm
So if anyone is going for a pre modded pstwo so they have a
bit of a warranty, MAKE SURE IT HAS A LASER FIX PCB!!!!
