heh, well I was thinking of something off topic somewhat but not really.

The ps2 in some respects reminds me of the 8bit nintendo where people had to re-insert and blow in the games/unit a number of times before it worked (they did release a new model like in 94')

What is wrong with sony, they have the best 3rd party support and the best overall system with the ps2 but the unit is built like a sand castle. from what I can tell the only ps2 systems that were built to last are versions 5 - 8 (the better ones are v7 & v8-jap).

lol, showing off your V7 *points to gorec's signature*. It is annoying for me that i have a V1-V3 (cant tell, its AUS) and a V12, when I have my heart set on a DMS4 ezi.

I still have my saga cd & when I tried using it the last time the unit worked perfectly (and it hasnt been taken care of very well eather), my uncle still has his colecovision and it plays games like new; But my 2 nintendo's don't work very well :( sony and there cheap part's, I wonder what there profit margin is? Compared to the cost to build the system and the price they sell it for.

try to find a used v5-v8 in good condition and chip it with the ezi. I took off that signature (for the post) since it does seem that way (heh).

when I wanted to chip a ps2 for myself I ventured for the v7 as opposed to the v9 & v10 out at the time, I got the unit in like new condition took my voltmeter and set the "pot" for the cd at 1100ohms & dvd "pot" at 900ohms then I installed the matrix modchip. I haven?t had any problems with it works perfect even with scratched discs or backups. GTA SA backup works great too no disc read errors on it ever.

He he, I was only joking about the v7 thing, I might wait for a really good commercial fix for the slim one.
They say they are working on an EZI for the slim one, if you put it in a bigger case, and if that didn't have a fix with it, I would put a Summ0ne's NEW fix in which now helps the tracking coils aswell.

I dont know why they bother with so many versions, lol, all they are doing is removing some features, such as iLink, HD/expansion port, but then again they seem to read +rs and +rw (these can screw the v12 laser no matter what fix, apparently).
