Ya, I definatly would go against a ghost switch or magic switch. Heard to many horrow stories about they ps2 thinking the door was open that long. And on my old ps2 i had a flip top, then it took a crap and i put the original top on and sent it back to sony. They STILL fixed it for free and sent it back, and i've had that ps2 for 2 years..

If you're looking for good looks and keeping your warranty intact, I would suggest going for the Magic Switch and using the tape method in place of part C. I made a tutorial how to do this here:

From the official SlimTool.com's website:
"Console can be used with lid open or closed."

I was having all kinds of problems with the slim tool/magic switch (not sure which one, as it wasn't exactly the one that I'd ordered). I hated the fact that the lid needed to be kept open at all times, and I couldn't get it to work anyway. I could never get Part C to work correctly. Then I found JspOt's tutorial, and it worked! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH JspOt!!
I would recommend this to anyone with the new slim PS2's. I think it's the cheapest method at only about $3.99, and you don't have to void your warranty. Here's the link again, in case anyone else needed it.

Thanks again for all your help.

hey there no problem, I too think that the Magic Switch is a cheap way to go when you combine with the tape mod. It looks good too because the pieces are black and you do not have to break off anything.

I got my "tools" from Consolepoint.com
They had very reasonable prices (even after shipping was included), and shipping was pretty quick. However, their support is lacking. I sent them an email yesterday asking for help with the tools, as I couldn't seem to get them to work, but they still haven't contacted me. Not even a courtesy email, stating that they will try to get back to me asap.
I just want to note that you need to use firm foam tape, if that makes sense. All I had was the tape you use around your doors and windows to help with insulation. The effect of that tape died today already. I cut a small piece of plastic and double-sided tape, and put that underneath the foam tape, and I think that may help. Otherwise, I'll just go out and buy some of the other type.

The type of tape I used on my tutorial is a foam double sided tape. Obviously I only peeled off one side and it has stayed on strong since Christmas.

ok guys i bought the slim tool from http://modchipstore.com/Slim_Tool_and_Swap_Magic_3_Combo_for_V12_slim_PSTwo_Console-p-16261.html lemme just say its very easy to install and the part C is not hard at all to install i would recommend this it took me under 5 mins to get it up and running and yes my lid does close while i play games
when you load swap magic disks then you load your game that works out great
my problem is that lets say you want to play with ar max ( Action Replay ) and you have to use first cd swap magic then you put in the ar max cd ( i made a backup of my ar max cd ) works good but then what do you do when you want to put in the game cause if you open the lid to switch the cds the cd is still spinning the eject button doesnt stop it nor does it when the lid is open your stuck with the disk spinning cause ar max aint like the swap magic cds it dont have a auto stop to switch the disks thankgod the swap magic disks have a auto stop so you can switch cds otherwise it would keep spinning and there wouldnt be a way to put your game in
so all in all i like it except it wont work with my ar max backup copy with swaping the disks cause of you cant get the ar max disk to stop spinning to change the disks once the sensors are all coverd
